• KPI Green Energy has energised an additional 35 MW solar capacity taking its total operational IPP capacity to 589 MW.

• The company plans to expand its IPP portfolio to 2.17 GW through several solar and hybrid renewable energy projects.

• Long term power purchase agreements with utilities such as GUVNL will generate stable annuity revenue for the company.

KPI Green Energy Limited has announced that it has energised an additional 35 megawatt peak solar capacity, taking its total operational Independent Power Producer capacity to 589 MWp.

The company stated that this expansion is part of its broader renewable energy pipeline and forms a key component of its planned 2.17 gigawatt IPP portfolio.

With several projects currently under execution, KPI Green expects to commission an additional 1,582 MWp capacity in the near future.

This expansion reinforces the company’s position as one of the growing renewable energy producers in India.

Transition Toward Asset Backed IPP Model

KPI Green Energy is gradually transitioning toward an asset backed Independent Power Producer model.

Under this model, the company develops renewable energy projects and sells electricity through long term Power Purchase Agreements with utilities and corporate customers.

Many of these PPAs have contract durations of up to 25 years, which provide stable and predictable revenue streams for the company.

This strategy helps build long term annuity income while strengthening the company’s renewable energy asset base.

Khavda Solar Park Project

One of the major projects in KPI Green’s portfolio is the 200 MW solar IPP project at Khavda Solar Park in Gujarat.

The project has a capacity of 240 MWp and began power injection in January 2026.

It is located in the South Block of the Khavda Solar Park, which is part of a 1.8 gigawatt solar park developed by Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited.

Electricity generated from this project is supplied under a long term power purchase agreement with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited.

This project represents an important milestone in the company’s renewable energy expansion strategy.

Hybrid Renewable Energy Project

KPI Green has also made progress on its hybrid renewable energy project combining solar and wind power.

The project has a total capacity of 92.15 MWp, consisting of:

16.95 MW wind power capacity
75.2 MW solar capacity

The company has successfully achieved grid synchronisation and started power injection ahead of the scheduled commercial operation date of July 2026.

Early completion of this project demonstrates KPI Green’s execution capabilities in complex renewable energy projects that combine multiple power sources.

Hybrid renewable projects are becoming increasingly important as they help improve power generation stability by combining solar and wind resources.

Large Hybrid and Solar Projects Under Execution

KPI Green is currently executing several large scale renewable energy projects as part of its 620 MW hybrid renewable energy capacity plan.

In October 2024, the company signed two long term power purchase agreements with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited.

These agreements include:

250 MW grid connected solar IPP project
370 MW grid connected hybrid renewable energy project

Under the solar project, the company has already commissioned 48.4 MW capacity corresponding to 69.41 MWp.

The remaining capacity is currently under construction, with the company targeting full project completion by October 2026.

The hybrid renewable project is also progressing steadily and is expected to be completed within the same timeline.

Entry into Battery Energy Storage Systems

KPI Green Energy has also entered the battery energy storage segment, which is becoming a key part of modern renewable energy infrastructure.

Its subsidiary Sun Drops Energia Limited has signed a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited.

The project involves 445 MW capacity with 890 megawatt hour energy storage capability.

Battery energy storage systems help store electricity generated during periods of high renewable energy production and release it during peak demand hours.

This technology improves grid stability and reliability while increasing the efficiency of renewable power systems.

Importance of Energy Storage in Renewable Sector

As renewable energy capacity grows globally, energy storage systems are becoming increasingly important.

Solar and wind power generation depend on weather conditions and time of day, which means power output can vary.

Battery energy storage systems help overcome this challenge by:

• Storing excess electricity when generation is high
• Supplying power when demand increases
• Balancing fluctuations in renewable energy production

By entering the energy storage sector, KPI Green aims to strengthen its position in integrated renewable energy solutions.
