The city is likely to experience light rain, according to weather forecasts, while temperature and air quality conditions remain within moderate ranges. On Tuesday (March 31, 2026), the minimum temperature was recorded at 19.4°C, and the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 33°C, indicating relatively stable and mild weather conditions for this time of the year.

Isolated rainfall has already been reported in different parts of the city since Monday. The 24-hour cumulative rainfall recorded up to 08:30 a.m. showed small but noticeable precipitation across several stations, including 0.5 mm at Safdarjung, 0.2 mm at Palam, 0.7 mm at Lodhi Road, 0.2 mm at Ridge, and 0.6 mm at Ayanagar. These figures suggest scattered rainfall activity rather than widespread heavy showers.

Station-wise temperature data also shows slight variations across different locations. At Palam, the minimum temperature was 19.6°C, which is the highest among the recorded stations and about 1.9 degrees above normal. Lodhi Road recorded a minimum of 18°C, which is approximately 2 degrees above normal, while the Ridge station reported 18.4°C, about 1.2 degrees below normal. Ayanagar registered a minimum temperature of 18.6°C, which is 0.4 degrees above normal.

On the air quality front, the Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 189, placing it in the moderate category as per data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The AQI scale categorises air quality as follows: 0–50 is considered good, 51–100 satisfactory, 101–200 moderate, 201–300 poor, 301–400 very poor, and 401–500 severe. An AQI of 189 indicates that air quality is acceptable for most people, but individuals with respiratory conditions, children, and the elderly may experience some discomfort.

Moderate air quality levels are common in urban areas due to a combination of factors such as vehicular emissions, construction activity, industrial output, and weather conditions that influence pollutant dispersion. Weather elements like rainfall can temporarily improve air quality by helping settle particulate matter, although the effect may vary depending on the intensity and duration of precipitation.

The recent light rainfall activity could contribute to marginal improvements in air quality by reducing dust and suspended particles in the atmosphere. However, sustained improvement typically depends on broader factors such as emission control measures, traffic patterns, and atmospheric conditions like wind speed and direction.

The combination of mild temperatures, scattered rainfall, and moderate air quality suggests relatively comfortable weather conditions for residents, though air pollution levels remain a factor to monitor, particularly for sensitive groups. Weather forecasts indicating continued chances of light rain may also influence short-term fluctuations in both temperature and pollution levels.
