A shocking crime has surfaced from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, where a 21-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his father following an argument reportedly linked to academic pressure to crack the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The incident has raised serious concerns about mental stress among aspirants and family conflicts escalating into tragic consequences.

The case was reported from the Ashiyana area of Lucknow, where the deceased, identified as Manvendra Pratap Singh, a local businessman, had been missing since February 20. According to police officials, continuous search efforts were underway after the family reported him missing. However, a major breakthrough came when neighbours alerted authorities about a strong foul smell emanating from the house.

Acting promptly on the complaint, local police reached the residence and initiated a search operation. During the inspection of the premises, the body was recovered from inside the house. Officials stated that certain remains were found stored inside a drum, while some portions had reportedly been disposed of earlier outside the residence.

The accused, identified as Akshat Pratap Singh, was detained and later arrested following detailed questioning. According to the official statement issued by Lucknow Police, the young man confessed during interrogation that an argument had taken place between him and his father in the early hours of February 20, around 4:30 am.

Police sources revealed that the disagreement was allegedly related to pressure from the father for his son to crack the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The 21-year-old reportedly told investigators that the tension between them had been building over academic expectations.

During questioning, the accused allegedly stated that he used his father’s licensed gun during the altercation. Following the incident, he reportedly moved the body from the third floor of the house to a ground-floor room. Police further claimed that the body was later dismembered, with some remains kept inside a drum on the premises while other parts were allegedly disposed of near Sadarouna.

As soon as information regarding the recovery of the body was confirmed, senior police officers visited the location. A forensic team was called in to examine the crime scene thoroughly and collect crucial evidence. Samples and materials from the house have been sent for detailed analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities have sealed the house and are reconstructing the sequence of events leading up to the incident. Investigators are also examining digital records, communication history, and other potential evidence to understand the motive and circumstances in greater depth.
