Madhya Pradesh has unveiled the Madhya Pradesh Drone Promotion and Utilisation Policy 2025, with the goal of transforming the state into a leading hub for drone manufacturing and applications. This policy aims to tap into the growing potential of drones in sectors like agriculture, logistics, security, and governance.

The policy, designed to attract investments and boost drone innovation, includes several key incentives to support manufacturing, research, and industry growth:

• A 40% capital investment subsidy for new investments, up to Rs. 30 crore (US$ 3.4 million).
• A 25% subsidy on lease rents for three years to facilitate the establishment of drone manufacturing units.
• Grants for Research and Development (R&D) worth Rs. 2 crore (US$ 0.2 million).
• Support for skill development initiatives under the Chief Minister's Seekho-Kamao Yojana.
• Stamp duty and registration fee waivers for industrial land leases.
• Patent filing support, covering Rs. 5 lakh (US$ 5,705) for domestic patents and Rs. 10 lakh (US$ 11,410) for international patents.

These provisions are designed to create an ecosystem conducive to growth, making Madhya Pradesh a prime location for drone manufacturers and innovators. The state has set a target to attract Rs. 370 crore (US$ 42.2 million) in investments over the next five years, which is expected to create 8,000 jobs in the sector.

Drone Technology’s Role in Key Sectors

The state government envisions drones playing a pivotal role in multiple sectors. In agriculture, drones will be used for precision farming, including crop monitoring and pesticide spraying, to improve productivity and reduce costs. Drones will also support surveying and mapping in infrastructure development and logistics, cutting down on operational expenses.

Additionally, drones are set to enhance public safety by being deployed in areas such as:

• Surveillance
• Traffic monitoring
• Disaster management
• Law enforcement

These innovations will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of public services across urban and rural areas, contributing to better service delivery and community well-being.

Madhya Pradesh’s Drone Ecosystem and Future Growth

The policy comes at a time when 90% of Indian airspace is designated as a "Green Zone" for drone operations. This classification encourages safe and scalable drone operations, opening up vast opportunities for the sector. With its new policy, Madhya Pradesh is positioned to take full advantage of this enabling environment.

India’s drone industry is on the brink of a significant growth phase, and Madhya Pradesh’s proactive steps to promote drone manufacturing and usage are set to contribute substantially to economic development, job creation, and technological advancement in the state.
