In Maharashtra, Satish Bhosale, a local BJP functionary also known as ‘Khokya’, has become the target of a threat linked to deer poaching allegations. On March 9, 2025, Bhosale, who is facing accusations of hunting deer, received a message from a social media account invoking the name of Lawrence Bishnoi, the notorious criminal currently in jail.

The message on Facebook demanded the arrest of Bhosale for his involvement in deer hunting, stating that “deer is our God,” and accused Bhosale of showing no remorse. The account in question is believed to be a fake account, though authorities are still investigating its authenticity. The Beed police have already reached out to the social media firm to gather details about the account but have not yet filed an FIR.

Forest Department Investigates Poaching Allegations

Alongside the police investigation, the forest department has launched a separate probe into poaching allegations against Bhosale. The department has conducted multiple searches in connection with the charges of illegal deer hunting and the trade of deer meat.

Maharashtra's forest minister, Ganesh Naik, expressed concern over the situation. Speaking at an event in Navi Mumbai on March 8, Naik assured the public that the poaching allegations in Beed would be thoroughly investigated. He emphasized that “the guilty will not be spared.” The investigation is ongoing, with officials actively looking into the accusations and ensuring proper enforcement of wildlife protection laws.
