  • JP Nadda said Modi govt lifted 25 crore out of poverty and focused on all sections through integral humanism-inspired policies.

  • Modi govt provided 10 crore gas connections, 12 crore toilets and 4 crore pucca houses for the underprivileged.

  • Initiatives like Kisan Samman Nidhi, soil health cards and defence self-reliance highlight the Modi govt’s holistic development push

Union Minister and BJP president J P Nadda on Sunday highlighted the achievements of the Narendra Modi government, stating that it follows the principle of serving the last man in the queue, a core idea of integral humanism as proposed by Deendayal Upadhyaya. Nadda was speaking at the valedictory address of a two-day conference commemorating 60 years of the ideological concept of integral humanism.

Deendayal Upadhyaya’s Vision and BJP's Commitment

J P Nadda emphasised that the central philosophy guiding the current administration stems from Upadhyaya’s vision of integral humanism, which believes that true governance means uplifting every citizen, especially those at the margins. He pointed out that Upadhyaya always believed that a country as vast and diverse as India cannot be effectively governed through centralisation; rather, it should be decentralised and people-centric.

According to Nadda, the Modi government’s welfare model puts this vision into action by ensuring that development reaches every corner and every community.

Lifting Millions Out of Poverty

A key point raised by Nadda was that 25 crore people have been lifted above the poverty line during the tenure of the Modi government. He claimed this massive socioeconomic transformation was made possible through a series of targeted welfare initiatives that cut across rural and urban India.

He said these achievements differentiate the Modi government from past regimes, which he alleged merely made promises without meaningful implementation.

Concrete Welfare Measures

Nadda listed several major welfare schemes as proof of the Modi government’s inclusive approach, including:

  • Providing cooking gas (LPG) connections to over 10 crore households under the Ujjwala Yojana

  • Constructing 12 crore toilets, helping to eliminate open defecation under the Swachh Bharat Mission

  • Building 4 crore pucca houses for the economically weaker sections through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana

These steps, he argued, represent real progress for millions of marginalised citizens, particularly women, farmers and the rural poor.

Farmers at the Forefront

Nadda spoke extensively about how farmer welfare has been prioritised, saying previous governments only used rhetoric without results. He credited former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and current Prime Minister Narendra Modi for changing the destiny of Indian farmers.

The major schemes he cited include:

  • PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, which provides direct income support to farmers

  • The Soil Health Card programme, promoting sustainable farming practices

  • A robust Crop Insurance Scheme that offers protection against natural calamities

He emphasised that these initiatives were designed to offer security, income stability, and improved productivity to farmers across the country.

Economic Growth and Defence Self-Reliance

On the economic front, Nadda noted that India has become the fourth-largest economy in the world under Modi’s leadership. He said the country is also moving confidently towards self-reliance in various sectors, especially defence.

He pointed out key achievements in defence, such as:

  • The success of Operation Sindoor

  • The growth of indigenous capabilities like BrahMos missile systems

  • A record-breaking ₹1.3 lakh crore in domestic defence production

According to Nadda, this progress reflects the Modi government's commitment to national security and innovation, driven by a self-reliant India (Atmanirbhar Bharat) vision.

Veiled Criticism of Opposition

Nadda also took a subtle dig at Opposition parties, accusing them of merely making promises without fulfilling them. He said that while many politicians have claimed to work for farmers, women, and the poor, it was only the Modi government that has delivered tangible results.

Conclusion

J P Nadda’s speech was a strong defence of the Modi government's people-first policies, deeply rooted in the ideology of integral humanism. The emphasis on uplifting the last man in the queue, delivering basic necessities, and driving economic and defence self-reliance, is being projected as the hallmark of the Modi era.

By highlighting both social welfare achievements and strategic economic advancements, Nadda underlined the BJP’s broader narrative that it is not only transforming lives but also positioning India as a global power with a strong and inclusive foundation
