US President Joe Biden confirmed that Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the US Army veteran responsible for the deadly rampage in New Orleans, had posted videos just hours before the attack, indicating his ISIS inspiration and expressing a desire to kill. The ISIS flag was also discovered in Jabbar’s rented vehicle, which he used to carry out the attack.
Biden further revealed that possible explosives were found not only in the vehicle but also in the vicinity of the crime scene, leading authorities to consider this incident as a potential terrorist act. The investigation is ongoing, with the FBI urging the public to come forward with any relevant information. FBI Agent Alethea Duncan emphasized, “We’re aggressively running down every lead, including those of his known associates.” The agency is seeking assistance from the public, particularly anyone who may have had recent interactions with Jabbar or possess videos or photos from the attack’s timeframe.
The attack took place after 3 am, sending shockwaves through the bustling French Quarter of New Orleans, one of the most popular areas of the city. The suspect, identified as Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar, was killed in a shootout with police following a crash of his rented truck.
