In a tragic incident from Noida Sector 75, a GST Deputy Commissioner allegedly died by suicide on Monday after jumping from the 15th floor of his apartment building. The incident took place at the Apex Athena Society around 11 AM, police said.

According to Sector 113 police station in-charge KG Sharma, the deceased was identified as Sanjay Singh, an officer working in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Department in Ghaziabad. His family members told police that he had been suffering from prostate cancer for the past five years and was in the final stage of the disease. They also mentioned that he was battling severe depression, which may have led him to take this extreme step.

Sanjay Singh’s Health Struggles

According to MP Singh, Additional Commissioner of GST, Ghaziabad, Sanjay was in the last stage of prostate cancer and had been facing severe mental distress due to his health condition. He was currently posted at the GST office in Rajendra Nagar, Trans Hindon, Ghaziabad, where he handled cases under trial in the Supreme Court of India.

His colleagues and family members had reportedly noticed a decline in his mental health over time.

Family & Police Investigation

Sanjay is survived by his wife and two sons. His elder son works in Gurugram, while his younger son is pursuing a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) at Sharda University in Greater Noida. The police have sent the body for postmortem, and further investigations are underway.

The incident has once again highlighted the mental health challenges faced by individuals battling terminal illnesses. Authorities urge people facing such struggles to seek professional help and emotional support from family and friends.
