In view of the upcoming Alvida Jumma, Cheti Chand, and Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, the Noida Police has enforced Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) from March 28 to March 31, 2025, across Gautam Buddh Nagar. This four-day period aims to ensure law and order during the festival season and prevent any potential disruptions.
Section 163 Enforced for Public Safety
Section 163 under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been imposed to regulate public gatherings and maintain peace and order during the festive period. The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate announced that security measures have been tightened to prevent any untoward incidents, and additional personnel have been deployed at key locations in Noida and Greater Noida.
The police have urged residents to cooperate and strictly adhere to the regulations set by the administration to ensure a safe and peaceful environment during these celebrations. Strict action will be taken against any violations of the imposed guidelines, the authorities have warned.
Sambhal Police Restricts Prayers to Mosques and Eidgahs
Meanwhile, in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, the police have issued strict directives prohibiting Alvida Jumma and Eid-ul-Fitr prayers from being conducted on streets or rooftops. Superintendent of Police (SP) Krishna Kumar Bishnoi announced that prayers will be permitted only in designated mosques and Eidgah premises.
To ensure compliance, a strong security strategy has been implemented, with the deployment of 10 companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and the Rapid Response Force (RRF) across sensitive areas. The deployment will be adjusted based on real-time situations to prevent any disruptions.
Sambhal has remained tense since the violence that erupted in the Kot Garvi locality on November 24, 2024, during a survey of the Mughal-era Jama Masjid. The incident resulted in the death of four individuals and left several others, including police personnel, injured. Given the previous incidents, authorities are leaving no stone unturned to maintain peace during this festive period.
Security Measures in Noida and Sambhal
To prevent any potential communal flare-ups or disturbances, Noida Police has established vigilant monitoring zones across the region. CCTV cameras have been installed at sensitive locations to track crowd movement and identify any suspicious activities. Special security teams have been placed on high alert, and regular patrolling will be conducted to ensure compliance with Section 163.
Additionally, authorities have emphasized that any violation of the guidelines will result in swift and strict action. Residents have been asked to celebrate responsibly and avoid gatherings in public places that may disrupt public order.
About Eid-ul-Fitr and Alvida Jumma
Eid-ul-Fitr, also known as Meethi Eid, is one of the most significant festivals in Islam, marking the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. It is a time for prayer, reflection, and celebration, with families coming together to offer Eid prayers, exchange gifts, and enjoy festive feasts.
The date of Eid-ul-Fitr is determined by the sighting of the crescent moon, which signifies the start of the month of Shawwal. This year, Eid is expected to fall on March 31 or April 1, 2025, in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and other South Asian countries, while it is projected to be observed on March 30 or March 31, 2025, in Middle Eastern and Western countries.
Alvida Jumma marks the last Friday of Ramadan, which holds special significance for Muslims. Large congregational prayers are held on this day, with believers seeking forgiveness and blessings before the holy month ends.
Police Advisory for Public Cooperation
The Noida Police has emphasized that the enforcement of Section 163 is a preventive measure aimed at maintaining public order during the busy festive period. Authorities have requested citizens to follow the guidelines issued by the administration and cooperate with the police to ensure a peaceful atmosphere.
The police have further assured that adequate arrangements have been made to address any emergency situations and that special response teams will be deployed to deal with unforeseen circumstances. Regular patrols will continue to monitor sensitive areas, ensuring that any potential disturbances are handled swiftly.
Conclusion
As Alvida Jumma, Cheti Chand, and Eid-ul-Fitr approach, the Noida Police's decision to impose Section 163 reflects its commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all residents. With heightened security measures and stringent monitoring in place, authorities aim to prevent any disturbances while encouraging the public to celebrate responsibly.
Similarly, Sambhal Police's directive to restrict prayers to designated premises underscores the importance of maintaining peace and order during this sensitive period. The combined efforts of law enforcement agencies across the region are aimed at ensuring a smooth and harmonious celebration of these significant religious events.
