NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a leading player in India’s renewable energy sector, has successfully commissioned part capacity of 100 MW (Lot-6) from its solar power plant at IRCON Renewable Power Limited (IRPL). The commercial operation date for this lot is effective from 00:00 hours on 17th September 2025.
IRPL, a 500 MW solar project, is a 24% joint venture of Ayana Renewable Power Private Limited, itself a wholly owned subsidiary of ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited, which is a 50% joint venture of NTPC Green Energy Limited. This milestone adds to NGEL’s expanding solar portfolio, bringing significant clean energy capacity online.
With this addition, the current commercial capacity of NTPC Green Energy Limited Group stands at 7,372.575 MW. Consequently, the total installed and commercial capacity of the entire NTPC Group rises to 83,026 MW, reinforcing NTPC’s position as one of India’s largest integrated power companies.
The commissioning of the 100 MW solar lot aligns with NTPC’s strategy to accelerate renewable energy deployment, supporting India’s clean energy targets and contributing to sustainable power generation. NTPC has been actively involved in solar, wind, and hybrid renewable energy projects across multiple states, emphasizing both grid stability and environmentally responsible energy generation.
The NTPC Green Energy Limited press release, filed under Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, ensures timely disclosure to stock exchanges and investors. The company emphasized that this capacity addition is a strategic step in meeting India’s renewable energy ambitions, strengthening both the company’s portfolio and the country’s transition towards a low-carbon economy.
The 100 MW solar project will contribute to reducing India’s carbon footprint, support decarbonization goals, and provide reliable energy for industrial, commercial, and residential consumption. NTPC Green Energy has been leveraging technological expertise, project management skills, and operational excellence to ensure the timely commissioning of renewable projects with high efficiency.
NTPC Green Energy Limited and its subsidiaries continue to expand the renewable energy footprint, working in tandem with government and private sector partners. The addition of this 100 MW capacity demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to increasing clean energy share in India’s energy mix while strengthening NTPC Group’s leadership in the power sector.
This development is expected to have a positive impact on investors, stakeholders, and India’s renewable energy ecosystem. It underscores NTPC’s consistent efforts towards energy transition, sustainability, and green growth, contributing to India’s target of 500 GW renewable energy capacity by 2030.
