  • Optiemus Unmanned Systems launched 4 high-tech drones for defence at Milipol India 2025, including VTOL, FPV, and loitering munition drones.

  • Collaboration with Taiwan-based Avix Technology to co-develop and locally manufacture key UAV components under Make in India.

  • The drones are capable of operating in GNSS-denied zones with AI tracking, EOIR cameras, and optical fiber cable navigation for electronic warfare resistance.

On April 23, 2025, Optiemus Infracom Limited, a leader in telecommunications and electronics manufacturing in India, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Optiemus Unmanned Systems Private Limited (OUS), unveiled four advanced drones aimed at revolutionizing the defence and surveillance sectors. This launch took place at the Milipol India Exhibition 2025, held at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi.

The new drones—Marak VT100, Vajra QC55, Canister Launched Loitering Munition, and First Person View (FPV) drones—represent cutting-edge technology, designed to meet the specific needs of defence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations. These drones are tailored to perform in challenging environments, including GNSS-denied and electronic warfare (EW) zones, and are capable of operating at high altitudes with extended endurance.

1. Marak VT100:

This drone features Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) technology, making it highly adaptable for confined areas without the need for a runway. Equipped with a 30x EOIR (electro-optical & infrared imaging) camera, it provides high-resolution day and night surveillance. The Marak VT100 offers a range of 20 km and an endurance of 3 hours, with the option for extended range up to 50+ km.

2. Vajra QC55:

The Vajra QC55 is a multirotor drone designed for aerial surveillance, equipped with an EOIR camera for high-resolution imaging. Its vertical lift capability allows for easy launches and landings in tight spaces. The drone offers 10 km range and 80 minutes of airborne time, with real-time imaging and AI analytics to aid in critical operations.

3. Canister Launched Loitering Munition:

This high-performance attack drone is engineered for quick strikes, featuring a 2.5 kg payload and 30 minutes of endurance. It reaches speeds of 130 km/h in loiter mode and 150 km/h during sprint operations. The drone is equipped with AI-driven tracking, a gimballed electro-optical and infrared payload, and is suitable for beyond-line-of-sight targeting.

4. FPV (First Person View) Drones:

These drones are notable for their optical fiber cable-based navigation that can withstand electronic warfare interference, ensuring a reliable connection during operations. The FPV drones are ideal for kamikaze and surveillance operations, offering ranges up to 20 km. Payload capacities and endurance vary, with some models supporting 1 kg payload for 15+ minutes and others carrying 350 grams for 30+ minutes.

Strategic Partnership with Avix Technology

In line with India’s Make in India initiative, OUS has entered into a strategic partnership with Avix Technology, a Taiwan-based company renowned for its high-performance UAV camera systems and components. This collaboration aims to develop, manufacture, and assemble critical drone components in India, strengthening the country's self-reliance in defence technology. Avix’s expertise in UAV design and components will complement Optiemus Unmanned Systems' operational knowledge, leading to the creation of a robust domestic manufacturing ecosystem.

Ashok Gupta, Executive Chairman of the Optiemus Group, commented on the new launch, stating, “These drones represent the future of autonomous aerial operations, combining advanced engineering with locally manufactured components to deliver high-impact performance in challenging environments. Our partnership with Avix Technology highlights a significant milestone in India's pursuit of self-reliance in defence technology.”

Future Prospects and Expansion

The launch of these advanced drones marks a significant step for Optiemus Unmanned Systems in its quest to become a key player in the defence technology sector. The drones are designed to meet the growing demand for unmanned aerial vehicles in India's defence, surveillance, and reconnaissance sectors. As part of their expansion strategy, OUS is also working with other partners to promote the Make in India initiative, with several third-party suppliers showcasing their locally made products alongside OUS’s drone systems.

By combining advanced drone technology with local manufacturing capabilities, Optiemus Unmanned Systems is positioning itself as a leader in the Indian defence sector, while also contributing to the country’s technological self-sufficiency.

This press release and product launch further emphasize the Optiemus Group’s commitment to innovation, defense modernization, and national security. The newly launched drones are expected to set new standards in unmanned aerial operations, offering cutting-edge solutions for a wide range of military and civil applications.
