The Ministry of Labour and Employment has reported that the e-Shram portal has successfully registered over 30.68 crore unorganised workers as of March 3, 2025. The e-Shram platform, launched on August 26, 2021, serves as a comprehensive National Database of Unorganised Workers (NDUW), linked with Aadhaar, enabling workers to register and obtain a Universal Account Number (UAN) based on self-declaration.

Key Statistics & Gender Representation

Out of the total registrations, 53.68% of the registered workers are female, reflecting the portal’s role in empowering women workers in the unorganised sector. This aligns with the Government’s objective of ensuring that unorganised workers gain easy access to social security schemes, enhancing their financial security and welfare.

One-Stop Solution for Welfare Schemes

In a major step to integrate welfare support for unorganised workers, the Ministry launched the e-Shram One-Stop Solution on October 21, 2024. This platform integrates 13 welfare schemes across various ministries, streamlining access to essential benefits. Some of the schemes integrated into the platform include:

• Pradhan Mantri Street Vendors Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PM-SVANidhi)
• Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)
• Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY)
• Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA)
• Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY)
• Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) – Urban and Gramin
• Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY)

These initiatives ensure that unorganised workers, including street vendors, rural workers, and self-employed individuals, receive benefits in areas like healthcare, housing, employment, and social security. The integration of these schemes into one platform significantly simplifies the process, providing workers with easier access to critical services and financial security.

Multilingual and Mobile Accessibility

To enhance accessibility, the e-Shram portal introduced multilingual functionality on January 7, 2025, through the Bhashini platform, enabling support for 22 Indian languages. This was followed by the launch of the e-Shram mobile app on February 24, 2025, offering workers real-time access to available welfare schemes. The e-Shram app provides a user-friendly interface for workers to navigate and avail themselves of the benefits provided through the integrated platform.

Awareness and Outreach Initiatives

The Ministry has undertaken various awareness initiatives to ensure that the e-Shram portal reaches the intended audience. These include SMS campaigns, social media outreach, and collaborations with platforms such as National Career Service (NCS), Skill India Digital Portal, and the Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance (UMANG). Additionally, the Ministry conducts periodic reviews with States and Union Territories to ensure effective implementation of the portal and its schemes.
