  • More than 45 schools across Delhi received bomb threats via email, triggering widespread panic and rapid evacuations.

  • This is the fourth such incident in a week, raising serious questions on school security and emergency preparedness.

  • Police and NDRF teams conducted search ops; so far, all threats appear hoax but investigations are ongoing.

New Delhi, July 18, 2025:
Over 45 schools in Delhi received bomb threats via email early Friday morning, sending waves of panic across the national capital. School authorities quickly informed the police, prompting emergency evacuations of students and staff across multiple locations.

This marks the fourth such incident in just one week, raising serious concerns about security preparedness in educational institutions and the mental toll on children and their parents.

Students Evacuated, Police Launch Emergency Searches

As soon as the emails were received, authorities at several private and government schools alerted law enforcement. The Delhi Police, assisted by anti-sabotage teams, bomb disposal squads, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), quickly launched coordinated search operations.

Schools across South Delhi, East Delhi, Dwarka, Rohini, and Central Delhi were among the institutions that received threatening emails.

All students and staff have been safely evacuated. Search operations are underway. So far, no suspicious object has been found,” said a senior police official from Delhi Police's Special Cell.

Fourth Time This Week: Pattern or Panic?

This is the fourth consecutive day this week where schools in Delhi have received similar threats. Most of the previous alerts turned out to be hoax messages, but authorities are not taking any chances.

“We are examining the email trail and cyber footprints. This seems like the work of a single coordinated group or individual trying to create panic,” said a Delhi Police cybercrime official.

Some experts believe that the repeated hoaxes may be part of a larger pattern to exploit public fear and test security responses. However, Delhi Police has not ruled out foreign or domestic mischief elements, and an FIR under relevant sections of the IPC and IT Act has been filed.

Parents, Children Traumatized Yet Again

Outside many schools, worried parents gathered in large numbers after receiving abrupt calls about bomb threats. Several children were seen crying or visibly shaken after being escorted out of classrooms by their teachers.

“I had just dropped off my daughter when I got a call from the school. I rushed back and saw police vans and ambulances outside. This is the second time this week,” said Neha Khanna, a parent outside a South Delhi private school.

Psychologists warn that repeated incidents of this nature can lead to stress, anxiety, and trauma in children and must be addressed carefully.

Delhi Government Calls Emergency Security Review

In response to the growing concern, Delhi Education Minister Atishi Marlena called for an emergency security review meeting with school administrators, police, and cyber security officials.

“We cannot let our schools become soft targets for psychological warfare. Every school must be equipped with emergency response protocols, surveillance, and better email verification mechanisms,” she said.

The Education Department has issued fresh guidelines for schools, including:

  • Periodic mock drills for bomb threats

  • Cyber hygiene audits for official email systems

  • Mandatory coordination with local police stations

  • Setting up crisis response rooms in all districts

Political Reactions Pour In

Political leaders across party lines condemned the threats. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said those behind such “heinous pranks or terrorist tactics” would be caught and punished.

“This is not just a threat to safety, but a mental attack on our children. We will not let Delhi’s school ecosystem be destabilized,” he stated on social media.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has asked the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and cyber agencies to coordinate with Delhi Police and track the origin of the threats if any link to terror or cross-border influence is found.

Public Urged to Remain Calm, Cooperate

Delhi Police has appealed to the public to stay calm but vigilant. Senior officials have said there is no need to panic as all protocols are being followed. Parents have been advised to check school notifications and avoid spreading rumours on social media.

“No confirmed bomb has been found in any school so far. We suspect all these threats to be hoaxes, but each one is being taken seriously,” said Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora.

Conclusion: Escalating Crisis Demands Robust Countermeasures

As the string of bomb threats continues to rattle Delhi’s school network, urgent questions are being raised about the security of public institutions, the need for cyber vigilance, and the mental health of young students.

The situation demands a coordinated, multi-agency response, along with transparent communication with parents and school staff. While hoaxes may be behind the panic, the emotional and logistical disruption they cause is very real—and increasingly unsustainable.
