What’s covered under the Article:

  1. Owaisi, part of India’s anti-terror delegation, slammed Pakistan as a terrorist state for supporting terror and misleading the Islamic world.

  2. Arab leaders condemned the Pahalgam attack and welcomed India's outreach; Owaisi urged Pakistan’s re-entry to the FATF grey list.

  3. Owaisi also hit out at Pakistan’s religious posturing, citing Benazir Bhutto’s assassination and Pakistan Army’s funeral support for terrorists.

In an explosive statement during an exclusive interview with India TV, AIMIM chief and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi strongly condemned Pakistan’s continued support for terrorism, labeling the country a “terrorist state” and asserting that he “keeps Pakistan’s words at the tip of his shoe.”

Owaisi's remarks came following his return from a high-level diplomatic mission to several Arab nations, where he represented India as part of an all-party parliamentary delegation tasked with garnering international support against cross-border terrorism, particularly in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed several civilian lives. The delegation, one of seven sent abroad, was led by BJP MP Baijayant Jay Panda and covered Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria.

"Pakistan Is a Terrorist State"

Owaisi minced no words in attacking Pakistan’s complicity in terrorist activities. Referring to Pakistan’s retaliatory actions following Indian airstrikes, he said, “When we blew up the runways of their airbase, they retaliated by killing civilians in Poonch.” He further cited a disturbing revelation: the Pakistan Army participated in funeral prayers (Namaaz-e-Janaza) of the very terrorists who had attacked India and saluted them, highlighting what he called direct collusion between the military establishment and terror networks.

He slammed Pakistan's duplicity and questioned its attempts to present itself as a guardian of Islamic values. “Pakistan is not the contractor of Islam,” Owaisi remarked, asserting that a true Islamic state would never promote terrorism or shelter the killers of leaders like Benazir Bhutto.

Productive Dialogue with Arab Leadership

Owaisi shared that the Indian delegation received serious and respectful attention from leaders in Arab countries, marking a positive shift in India’s outreach in the Islamic world. Meetings with the Chairman of the Shura Council of Saudi Arabia and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs reportedly lasted over two hours, during which Indian representatives briefed them on Pakistan’s involvement in promoting cross-border terrorism.

The Pahalgam terror attack, in particular, evoked strong condemnation from Arab leaders, who referred to it as a barbaric and unacceptable act of violence. Owaisi noted that several Arab nations acknowledged Pakistan's role in nurturing terror groups, offering a rare moment of alignment between Indian diplomacy and the Islamic bloc’s leadership.

Push for Pakistan’s Return to FATF Grey List

In his meetings, Owaisi also urged Arab nations to press for Pakistan’s re-entry into the FATF grey list. The Financial Action Task Force (FATF), a global watchdog on money laundering and terror financing, had placed Pakistan under increased monitoring in the past, citing its inadequate action against terror financing. Owaisi stressed that financial aid to Pakistan must be reconsidered, especially when those funds could be diverted to support extremist elements.

He emphasized, “Arab nations must not allow their support to be misused. If Pakistan claims to be fighting terrorism, let it start by dismantling its own terror networks and military-terrorist partnerships.

Religious Posturing and the Hypocrisy of Pakistan

Perhaps the most striking comments came when Owaisi addressed the hypocrisy in Pakistan’s use of Islam to justify its foreign policy. Taking a jibe, he said, “Pakistan does not understand the meaning of Islam. If it did, it wouldn’t promote terrorism.” He accused the country of hiding behind religion to shield its rogue elements, and protecting those responsible for the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

He added emphatically, “I keep Pakistan’s words at the tip of my shoe. I don’t care for their sermons or their hypocrisy.

Political Commentary and Response to Rahul Gandhi

The conversation also veered into domestic political territory. Responding to a recent statement by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Owaisi remained diplomatic but clear: “Rahul Gandhi is a senior leader of his party. His statement is his own concern.

However, on the ceasefire talks between India and Pakistan, he offered a more assertive view. Owaisi criticized the manner in which the ceasefire announcement was made, stating, “The ceasefire should have been announced by either India or Pakistan. It was not appropriate for Donald Trump to announce it.” His comments highlighted a view shared by many in India—that foreign powers should not be seen as intermediaries in matters concerning Indian sovereignty.

India’s Diplomatic Offensive Post-Pahalgam Attack

The Indian government launched a major global diplomatic campaign in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, aiming to expose Pakistan’s role in fomenting unrest in Jammu and Kashmir. The attack, which resulted in significant civilian casualties, united political parties across the spectrum, prompting the formation of seven parliamentary delegations to engage with various international communities.

Owaisi’s visit to Arab nations formed a crucial part of this campaign, given the historical religious and economic ties between Pakistan and the Middle East. His assertive stance, particularly as a Muslim political leader from India, was seen as instrumental in countering Pakistan’s narrative that seeks to cast the Kashmir issue in religious terms.

Conclusion: A Stronger, Unified India on the Global Stage

Asaduddin Owaisi’s blunt assessment of Pakistan as a terrorist state, his vigorous defense of India’s secular and anti-terror position, and his engagement with Arab leadership form part of a broader, more aggressive diplomatic doctrine aimed at isolating Pakistan on global platforms.

His voice, alongside leaders from multiple political ideologies, signals a rare moment of national unity in India’s fight against cross-border terrorism. With the world increasingly attentive to the region’s geopolitical dynamics, such missions are crucial in ensuring that India’s perspective on terrorism and regional security is clearly communicated and widely acknowledged.

India’s outreach has shown that when it comes to national security and counterterrorism, partisan lines blur, and the country speaks in one voice—whether that’s from New Delhi, Riyadh, or Algeria.
