Key Points:

  1. Panchayat Season 3 brings back Jitendra Kumar as Sachiv Ji with heartwarming performances.
  2. The season explores new conflicts in Phulera but struggles with pacing and character arcs.
  3. Strong acting from the entire cast, especially Faisal Malik and Raghubir Yadav, keeps the series engaging.

Panchayat Season 3 has arrived on Amazon Prime Video, bringing viewers back to the charming and rustic Phulera village. This season once again stars Jitendra Kumar as the earnest and hardworking Sachiv Ji, along with the beloved ensemble cast including Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Sanvikaa, Chandan Roy, and Faisal Malik. For 40 minutes per episode, the show immerses viewers in the life and challenges of a small Indian village, evoking emotions that many might have forgotten in the hustle and bustle of city life.

Story

The narrative of Panchayat Season 3 begins with a new secretary trying to adapt to his first day of work while the villagers of Phulera are busy attempting to bring back their old Sachiv Ji, Abhishek Tripathy. Played by Jitendra Kumar, Abhishek, who had left the village, continues to stay in touch with Rinki (Sanvikaa) and is visibly delighted to return. However, upon his return, Abhishek must juggle his MBA preparation with resolving local disputes, such as the allocation of houses under the Gram Awas Yojana for Phulera East and West. The season also delves into the conflict between the MLA and the villagers, and the evolving love story between Abhishek and Rinki.

Raghubir Yadav as Pradhan Pati and Neena Gupta as the real Pradhan Ji are as endearing as ever, delivering performances that are both humorous and heartfelt. Chandan Roy as Vikas gets more screen time with his family, providing a deeper look into his life. Notably, we meet his wife, played by Tripti Sahu. Faisal Malik as Prahlad Cha moves ahead in life, presenting a poignant narrative that prompts viewers to reflect on their own lives.

Direction and Writing

The writing and direction by Chandan Kumar and Deepak Kumar Mishra continue to excel in creating relatable and emotionally resonant moments. However, this season has some shortcomings. Unlike the first two seasons, the characters lack significant development, and the humor falls short due to weaker punchlines. The pacing is notably slower, with the primary storyline revolving around the Gram Awas Yojana dispute and the Bhushan and Vidhayak vs. Phulera theme, without the engaging side stories that were a hallmark of the previous seasons.

Acting

Jitendra Kumar once again shines as Sachiv Ji, capturing the character's happiness, troubles, and love with nuanced expressions. Raghubir Yadav delivers a standout performance as Pradhan Ji, embodying the character with unmatched skill. Neena Gupta impresses with her portrayal of a simple, sari-clad Pradhan, contrasting her typically modern social media persona.

Chandan Roy does a commendable job as Vikas, while Sanvikaa's portrayal of Rinki is both charming and endearing. Durgesh Kumar as Bhushan, supported by Ashok Pathak as Binod and Sunita Rajwar as Kranti Devi, adds depth to the village's dynamics. Pankaj Jha as the MLA delivers a powerful performance, portraying the root of the village's chaos with conviction.

The standout performance, however, comes from Faisal Malik as Prahlad Cha. His portrayal of a grieving father who lost his son is heart-wrenching, especially with his memorable line, "Samay se pehle koi nahin jayega" ("No one will go before their time"), leaving a lasting impact on viewers.

Verdict

Despite some pacing issues and a lack of character development, Panchayat Season 3 remains a worthwhile watch, packed with strong performances and emotional depth. While the first season made viewers laugh and the second season brought tears, the third season stumbles a bit but still delivers moments that will resonate with fans. The series continues to highlight the peace and simplicity of village life, contrasting with the fast-paced existence of city dwellers.

Available on Prime Video, TVF's Panchayat Season 3 may not fully live up to the expectations set by its predecessors, but it still deserves recognition for its heartfelt storytelling and memorable characters. With its mix of humor, emotion, and social commentary, the season earns a respectable 3 stars, leaving viewers eager for the next chapter in the life of Phulera village.

Final Thoughts

Panchayat Season 3 offers a blend of humor, drama, and introspection, capturing the essence of rural life and its unique challenges. The show's ability to evoke a range of emotions—from laughter to tears—is a testament to its strong writing and direction, even if this season doesn't quite reach the heights of the first two. Fans of the series will find much to appreciate, while new viewers may be inspired to explore the earlier seasons. As we await future installments, Panchayat continues to be a beacon of thoughtful, engaging Indian television.
