Prasad defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that allegations made by Gandhi regarding compromises by the Prime Minister were baseless.

“I would like to remind the Leader of the Opposition that the Prime Minister of India can never be compromised,” Prasad said in the House.

He also described the opposition’s arguments during the debate as “baseless” and accused them of using parliamentary procedures for political confrontation.

Objections Over Presiding Officer

The debate also witnessed disagreements over who should preside over the proceedings during the discussion on the motion.

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and Congress MP K. C. Venugopal raised objections to the procedure used to select the presiding officer.

They argued that the House should elect a member specifically to preside over the debate rather than selecting someone from the panel of chairpersons.

However, BJP leaders rejected these objections and defended the procedure adopted for the debate.

Amit Shah to Address the House

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to address the Lok Sabha during the debate later in the day.

According to parliamentary sources, Shah is likely to speak on the motion seeking the removal of Speaker Om Birla and respond to the allegations raised by the opposition.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that the opposition INDIA bloc may consider bringing an impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
