Jana Sena Party workers have been asked to light lamps, burst crackers, and conduct public events to mark the day.
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party (JSP) president K. Pawan Kalyan has called upon the public and his party workers to celebrate June 4 as a symbolic day marking one year since the defeat of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in the 2024 Assembly elections.
In a press release issued ahead of the first anniversary of the 2024 election results, Pawan Kalyan described YSRCP's rule as anarchic and oppressive, stating that people suffered heavily under its governance. According to him, the defeat of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government is no less than a festival for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
A Call for State-wide Celebrations
June 4, 2024, the day when results were declared, marked a turning point for the state. The NDA alliance, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the national level and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in the state, took charge. Pawan Kalyan hailed the date as the start of a new era of good governance.
In his message, he urged Jana Sena Party workers and the general public to celebrate June 4, 2025, in a grand and vibrant manner. He proposed that the celebrations should include:
-
Lighting of lamps in homes and public places
-
Bursting of crackers to mark the end of what he called ‘misrule’
-
Organising digital campaigns across social media
-
Themed events under the banner “One Year of Good Governance”
Pawan Kalyan believes these symbolic acts will remind people of the progress made over the past year and renew their commitment to democratic values and transparent governance.
Digital Campaign and Public Mobilisation
In an effort to reach the younger, tech-savvy generation, the Deputy Chief Minister has emphasised the use of digital platforms. He encouraged the party’s rank and file to launch a massive online campaign on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and WhatsApp, showcasing the achievements of the NDA government over the past year.
He also requested local party units to host community events, cultural programmes, and awareness campaigns around government welfare schemes launched since June 2024.
The hashtag #OneYearOfGoodGovernance is expected to trend across platforms, driven by grassroots JSP workers, youth wings, and allied NDA supporters.
Symbolism Behind the Celebrations
Describing the YSRCP’s time in power as a period of chaos, corruption, and administrative failure, Pawan Kalyan said the people had been longing for change. The 2024 election results, he said, gave them that change, and now it is time to celebrate the triumph of democracy and responsible leadership.
Lighting lamps, he explained, symbolises the dispelling of darkness and the ushering in of light, while bursting crackers signifies joy, renewal, and festive cheer.
“People of Andhra Pradesh endured a lot. Their patience and democratic will brought change. This celebration is not political; it is a people’s celebration,” the JSP leader added.
One Year of NDA Rule in Andhra Pradesh
Over the past year, the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh, headed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, has focused on several key areas:
-
Restoring law and order
-
Reviving stalled infrastructure projects
-
Reinstating investor confidence in the state
-
Empowering youth and women through welfare schemes
-
Rebuilding the capital city project in Amaravati
Pawan Kalyan, who has been a strong ally in this governance push, reiterated his commitment to ensuring transparency, welfare, and rapid development across all 26 districts of the state.
Political Significance
The June 4 celebration call also carries a strong political message. It signals Pawan Kalyan’s confidence in the NDA coalition’s governance and aims to consolidate public support at the grassroots.
By celebrating the day symbolically, the Jana Sena Party seeks to connect emotionally with voters, reaffirming that the power lies with the people and that poor governance will not go unpunished.
This move also attempts to draw a clear line between the previous administration’s missteps and the current government’s development-focused agenda.
Conclusion
As Andhra Pradesh gears up to mark one year since a major political shift, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s call for state-wide celebrations on June 4 is both festive and symbolic. From lighting lamps and bursting crackers to launching a digital campaign, the occasion is set to reflect both the public sentiment against past governance and the optimism for the state's future.
Through this celebration, the Jana Sena Party and NDA hope to reinforce the message that governance is for the people, by the people, and most importantly, accountable to the people
