Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, commemorated four years of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP) in New Delhi, highlighting its transformative role in reshaping India’s infrastructure planning and execution. Launched under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, PM GatiShakti integrates speed, efficiency, and multi-sectoral coordination, serving as a pivotal tool for inclusive and sustainable development and supporting India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
Mr. Goyal emphasized that PM GatiShakti bridges the gap between macro-level planning and micro-level execution, enabling evidence-based decision-making and fostering cross-sectoral collaboration across Ministries, Departments, and States/UTs. The initiative has not only transformed physical infrastructure planning but is also expanding to include social infrastructure, human development, digital integration, and offshore resource planning, establishing itself as a central instrument for national and human development.
During the event, several key initiatives were launched to enhance infrastructure planning and operational efficiency. The NMP platform was opened to the private sector through a Query-Based Analytics Mechanism developed by the Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics (BISAG-N). The PM GatiShakti Compendium Volume three was released, alongside the unveiling of the PMGS NMP Dashboard and the Knowledge Management System (KMS) to promote cross-learning and knowledge sharing among stakeholders.
Additional initiatives launched included PM GatiShakti - Offshore for integrated offshore planning, the Data Uploading & Management System (DUMS), the PMGS District Master Plan (DMP) for Aspirational Districts, and the Logistics Excellence, Advancement and Performance Shield (LEAPS) 2025 to recognize excellence in the logistics sector. These measures aim to enhance data-driven planning, optimize logistics, and streamline infrastructure execution, ensuring alignment with India’s broader economic and social development goals.
Over the past four years, PM GatiShakti has assessed over 300 major infrastructure projects, enabled 36 States/UTs to align their State Master Plans with the national vision, and expanded into socio-economic sectors including healthcare, education, and tribal development. The initiative has also emphasized the role of digital tools, cross-sectoral analytics, and private sector engagement in improving the planning and delivery of infrastructure projects.
