Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a significant three-state visit on June 20, 2025, covering Bihar, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh, with a packed agenda including the launch of the Vande Bharat Express, distribution of housing benefits, rollout of large-scale development projects, and the celebration of the 11th International Yoga Day in Visakhapatnam. The visit not only highlights infrastructural strides but also aims to reinforce public welfare initiatives, cultural prominence, and global awareness of yoga and environmental health.

Bihar: Boost to Connectivity and Urban Welfare

PM Modi kicked off the visit with a stop in Siwan, Bihar, where he addressed a massive public gathering and inaugurated several high-impact projects. The main attraction was the launch of the Vande Bharat Express connecting Patliputra to Gorakhpur via Muzaffarpur and Bettiah. This move is aimed at enhancing passenger connectivity in North Bihar, a region significant both politically and economically.

Additionally, he flagged off a new railway line between Vaishali and Deoria, a ₹400 crore project that is expected to improve regional transit.

In a milestone under the "Make in India, Make for the World" initiative, the Prime Minister also dispatched an advanced locomotive manufactured at the Marhowra plant to the Republic of Guinea, symbolizing India's commitment to global trade and indigenous production.

Under the Namami Gange programme, PM Modi inaugurated six sewage treatment plants (STPs) across the state, involving an investment exceeding ₹1,800 crore. These facilities are designed to improve river health and bolster sustainable urban living.

Moreover, the Prime Minister distributed the first instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) to over 53,600 beneficiaries and conducted a Grih Pravesh ceremony, handing over keys to over 6,600 families who now own their first homes. Additional announcements included the initiation of water supply, power infrastructure, and other essential utilities across key urban zones in Bihar.

This visit is seen as politically crucial, with Bihar being a strategic battlefield for the BJP-JD(U) alliance in the backdrop of rising momentum from the opposition INDIA bloc.

Odisha: Celebrating Progress and Visionary Goals

On the same day, the Prime Minister reached Bhubaneswar, Odisha, to commemorate the first anniversary of the BJP-led state government. He addressed a large gathering at around 4:15 PM, where he laid out a robust development agenda.

Projects worth over ₹18,600 crore were launched, spanning sectors like rural roads, bridges, agriculture, irrigation, drinking water, highways, and healthcare infrastructure. Notably, Boudh district received its first railway connection, ending years of geographical isolation.

The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) initiative received a green boost with the launch of 100 electric buses, contributing to eco-friendly transportation solutions.

In a forward-looking gesture, PM Modi unveiled the Vision Document for Odisha, highlighting aspirations toward two centenary milestones:

  • 2036: Marking 100 years of Odisha as India's first linguistic state.

  • 2047: Celebrating 100 years of India's independence.

This roadmap focuses on inclusive growth, educational reform, climate resilience, and cultural renaissance, establishing Odisha as a key pillar of the Indian growth story.

Andhra Pradesh: Leading the Global Yoga Movement

On June 21, 2025, PM Modi will arrive in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, to lead the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations. He will guide a mass Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) session along the Visakhapatnam beachfront, which is expected to attract around five lakh participants. This is set to be one of the largest public yoga events held in the country.

Over 3.5 lakh locations across India will join the celebrations. The Government is emphasizing community and youth participation through its "Yoga Unplugged" campaign, promoted via MyGov and MyBharat platforms.

The theme this year, "Yoga for One Earth, One Health", encapsulates the philosophy of “Sarve Santu Niramaya”, emphasizing the interconnectedness of human well-being and planetary health. The initiative not only fosters spiritual and mental wellness but aligns with global calls for sustainable living and health consciousness.

Since India's proposal to the United Nations in 2015, PM Modi has been the face of global Yoga Day celebrations, having previously led them from New Delhi, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Mysuru, Srinagar, and even the UN headquarters in New York. This year’s celebration in Visakhapatnam underlines the growing importance of holistic health in India’s national and foreign policy narrative.

Conclusion

PM Modi’s three-state visit from June 20–21, 2025, encapsulates the government’s multi-pronged approach to infrastructure development, public welfare, and cultural diplomacy. From launching the Vande Bharat Express and sewage treatment plants in Bihar, unveiling transformative development initiatives and vision documents in Odisha, to leading Yoga Day from the shores of Visakhapatnam, the tour is a reflection of India’s march toward inclusive growth and international leadership in wellness and sustainability.

By combining high-value public projects with strong symbolic events like International Yoga Day, the visit not only boosts local economies but also reinforces national pride and international recognition. The focus on housing, railways, water supply, and clean energy across these states reflects the Modi government's commitment to “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas”—ensuring progress for all sections of society while keeping India’s global image radiant and resilient.
