In a charged election rally in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday invoked the legacy of Balasaheb Thackeray, the late founder of the Shiv Sena. Addressing a packed crowd, Modi emphasized that the Mahayuti government had fulfilled Thackeray's long-cherished wish of renaming Aurangabad to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. According to Modi, the demand to rename Aurangabad was one that had been voiced by Balasaheb Thackeray himself, and it was only the Congress-led government that sought to overturn this decision by challenging it in the courts.

Maharashtra's political landscape was sharply divided during the reign of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. PM Modi lashed out at the opposition, accusing them of not having the political courage to make decisions in favor of Maharashtra’s heritage under pressure from Congress. This served as the backdrop for Modi's claim that it was only the Mahayuti government that truly embraced the vision of Thackeray by renaming the city.

In his speech, the Prime Minister made it clear that Congress was a party of division, not development. He sharply criticized the Congress and its allies for their anti-reservation stance in the past and accused them of being against the welfare of OBCs. Drawing attention to the past, Modi reminded the crowd of Congress’s criticism of reservation policies and its attempts to undermine such schemes. The Prime Minister proudly pointed out that the country’s first OBC Prime Minister has held office for over a decade, a fact that Congress could never accept due to their historical mindset.

One of the key points raised by PM Modi during the rally was the development work undertaken by the Mahayuti government in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. He revealed that more than ₹1,600 crore had been invested into improving the power supply in the region, but the MVA government had attempted to stall these initiatives. Modi's remarks underscored that it was only after the Mahayuti returned to power that these critical infrastructure projects had resumed.

During his speech, Modi also focused on the impressive foreign direct investment (FDI) that Maharashtra witnessed under the BJP-led Mahayuti government. He confidently stated that Maharashtra saw the highest FDI inflows during the Mahayuti rule, highlighting the region's economic growth and its place as a global business hub under BJP governance. This achievement contrasted with the MVA government's record, which Modi suggested had failed to keep up with the progress seen under the BJP's leadership.

Modi’s speech also touched upon the Jalyukt Shivar scheme, which was introduced by then-CM Devendra Fadnavis to tackle the water crisis in Marathwada. Modi pointed out that while the scheme had made great strides in alleviating the water woes of the region, it was abruptly stopped when the MVA government took office. However, with the return of the Mahayuti government, the scheme was resumed.

As the rally proceeded, Modi also targeted the opposition's stance on Kashmir, accusing Congress and its allies of supporting the restoration of Article 370. The opposition’s position, according to Modi, was reflective of a divisive ideology that did not align with Maharashtra's values or the broader national interest.

Throughout the rally, the Prime Minister's remarks were intended not only to rally the Maharashtrian electorate in favor of the BJP-led government but also to ensure that the party’s development agenda remained at the forefront of the state’s election narrative. His speeches emphasized a shift from political squabbles to a focus on progress and development for all regions of the state.
