PM Modi hails 11 years of NDA rule says govt focused on poor's welfare

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5 2025 reflected on the 11-year journey of the National Democratic Alliance NDA at the Centre asserting that the government has remained committed to the welfare of the poor and to inclusive governance since 2014. His remarks came ahead of June 9 when he is set to complete the first year of his third consecutive term as Prime Minister marking uninterrupted rule since assuming office.

In a post on social media PM Modi described his government as compassionate and transformative crediting its success to mass welfare schemes and the vision of a self-reliant India.

Focus on pro-poor development

PM Modi said the NDA government has taken path-breaking steps over the last 11 years to uplift millions from poverty by focusing on empowerment infrastructure and inclusion. These he said have ensured that even the last mile citizen benefits from government programmes.

He said initiatives like PM Awas Yojana PM Ujjwala Yojana Jan Dhan Yojana and Ayushman Bharat have significantly enhanced access to housing clean cooking fuel banking and healthcare.

He also mentioned how the government’s emphasis on Direct Benefit Transfer DBT digital inclusion and rural infrastructure development has ensured transparency reduced leakages and enabled faster delivery of services.

According to the PM these efforts have contributed to lifting over 25 crore people out of poverty a statistic he said reflects the impact of policy execution on the ground.

Third term milestones and future goals

On June 9 2025 Narendra Modi will complete one year of his third term adding up to 11 continuous years in power since 2014. To mark the occasion the government is preparing a massive outreach campaign to connect with citizens and showcase its key achievements over the years.

At a Council of Ministers meeting held on June 4 the Prime Minister urged his colleagues to set high targets and work in overdrive to meet developmental goals. He emphasised the importance of grassroots engagement and encouraged ministers to highlight the achievements of their respective ministries in a manner that resonates with common citizens.

He told them that this is the time to reflect consolidate and push forward with even more determination and let people see the change brought into their lives.

11 years of NDA a quick glance

Since coming to power in 2014 the NDA government under Modi has focused on large-scale public welfare. Some of the flagship programmes include:

  • Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana PMAY aiming to provide affordable housing for all

  • PM Ujjwala Yojana distributing LPG connections to crores of poor women

  • Jan Dhan Yojana driving financial inclusion by opening zero-balance bank accounts

  • Ayushman Bharat providing free health insurance to over 50 crore Indians

These schemes have been supported by a push for digitisation including the Digital India initiative JAM Trinity Jan Dhan Aadhaar Mobile integration and massive infrastructure investments in roads railways and electricity supply

The government also took pride in schemes like PM-KISAN which offers direct cash transfers to farmers and Har Ghar Jal aiming to ensure tap water supply in rural homes

Criticism and political counterview

While the Prime Minister hailed his government’s work opposition parties especially the Congress and regional coalitions have criticised rising unemployment inflation and concentration of wealth among a few corporates. They argue that schemes have been poorly implemented in several areas and many promises have remained largely on paper

However Modi's messaging has consistently centred on national pride clean governance and the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047

With nearly four years left in the current term the Modi-led NDA is expected to continue pushing its flagship reforms especially in areas like digital governance green energy transition infrastructure modernisation and welfare delivery systems

The campaign is also expected to focus on empowering youth boosting local industries under Atmanirbhar Bharat and building India’s global image as a confident strong democracy
