Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bihar’s Karakat on May 30, 2025, was marked by an emphatic reaffirmation of India’s stance against terrorism, a heartfelt tribute to the courage of the Border Security Force (BSF), and the inauguration of development projects worth over ₹48,520 crore. With the eyes of the nation on this critical political and infrastructural event, PM Modi delivered a powerful address that was deeply emotional, politically resonant, and strategically significant.
In his address to the people of Bihar, PM Modi paid homage to BSF Sub Inspector Imtiaz, who laid down his life during Operation Sindoor at the border on May 10. Modi’s words resonated with patriotic fervour as he stated, “Pakistan and the world have seen the power of India's daughters' Sindoor.” He described Operation Sindoor as a symbol of courage and sacrifice, affirming that India’s fight against terrorism is ongoing and that such missions are only the beginning of what India can and will do to protect its sovereignty and people.
The Prime Minister's message was clear and direct. Referring to Pakistan, he said, “Those in Pakistan who erased the vermilion of our sisters have seen their places turned to ruins by the Indian Army.” The strong statement came as a warning to terrorist forces and hostile elements, indicating that India’s counter-terrorism strategy is robust, proactive, and unrelenting.
“If the hood of terror rises again, India will crush it by pulling it out of its hole,” declared PM Modi, leaving no ambiguity about the country’s stance on national security. The invocation of Operation Sindoor and the sacrifice of Sub Inspector Imtiaz served to underline the courage and commitment of Indian forces, especially those hailing from Bihar, a state that has historically contributed significantly to India’s military strength.
In a continuation of this theme, PM Modi asserted that India’s armed forces had struck deep into Pakistan, dismantling terror camps and stunning the adversary with bold military decisions. He added that India’s decisive actions had set a new precedent in counter-terrorism operations, shocking those who never believed India would retaliate so strongly.
PM Modi did not limit his address to external threats. He spoke emphatically on the internal security situation, particularly focusing on Maoist violence and its historical grip on Bihar and other parts of India. He reminded the audience of the Naxal dominance in districts like Sasaram just a few years ago and credited the joint efforts of the central and state governments, particularly under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, for reducing Naxal-affected districts from over 75 to just 18. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that Maoist violence would be fully eradicated soon, marking a new chapter of peace and development in the region.
The address was not merely rhetorical. It was backed by tangible development announcements that significantly impact Bihar’s infrastructure, connectivity, and energy security. PM Modi inaugurated multiple highway and rail infrastructure projects, with road and rail upgrades forming a large portion of the ₹48,520 crore investment.
One of the biggest announcements was the four-laning of the Patna–Gaya–Dobhi section of NH–22, a major regional corridor that will boost connectivity and regional trade. Worth ₹5,520 crore, this project is set to improve the logistical network significantly.
Further, the four-laning and grade improvements at Gopalganj Town on NH–27 aim to decongest urban traffic and promote smoother transportation in the region. These were not standalone projects. The third rail line between Son Nagar and Mohammad Ganj, valued at ₹1,330 crore, was also dedicated to the nation, indicating the government’s strong focus on enhancing freight and passenger rail capabilities in eastern India.
A centerpiece of the announcements was the foundation stone laying for the Stage-II of the Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project in Aurangabad district, a colossal undertaking worth over ₹29,930 crore. This project aims to enhance energy security not just for Bihar but for the broader eastern region of India. It aligns with India’s long-term energy strategy and is expected to provide affordable and reliable power to millions.
PM Modi also unveiled plans for further road development, including:
-
The four-laning of the Patna–Arrah–Sasaram section of NH-119A,
-
The six-laning of the Varanasi–Ranchi–Kolkata highway (NH-319B), and
-
The construction of a new bridge over the Ganga river between Buxar and Bharauli, which will boost inter-district connectivity and bridge infrastructure gaps.
These initiatives are set to revolutionise Bihar’s connectivity landscape, improve travel times, and spur economic growth by providing better links between rural and urban markets.
Present at the occasion were several key dignitaries including Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, Union Ministers, and a wide range of senior officials and leaders.
The combination of national security narratives, emotional tributes, and substantive development launches made PM Modi’s Karakat speech a multifaceted and impactful address. It served to reiterate the Centre’s commitment to Bihar, honour its contributions to India’s defence forces, and position the state as a priority for future investments and infrastructure upgrades.
As Bihar approaches key electoral cycles, such announcements and addresses will be scrutinised not just for their developmental promises, but also for their political messaging. PM Modi’s strong rhetoric against terrorism and violence, combined with tangible groundwork for future development, reflects a holistic strategy of governance, combining security, development, and emotional resonance with the electorate.
The Prime Minister’s presence in Karakat, and the emphasis he placed on BSF heroism, Operation Sindoor, and massive developmental schemes, created an atmosphere of national pride, regional progress, and strategic clarity. In essence, the message was clear — India under PM Modi will neither forget its heroes nor slow down its journey towards infrastructural and national resurgence.
This monumental address and the series of project inaugurations underline how Karakat has become a symbolic location for India’s resolve against terror, and Bihar’s journey from conflict-ridden zones to development hubs.
As the world watches and Pakistan takes note, India’s daughters’ Sindoor — symbolising honour, sacrifice, and power — continues to inspire a nation that is rising with strength, purpose, and unwavering resolve.
