Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the highly anticipated WAVES Summit 2025 on May 1, 2025, at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai, marking a monumental step in India's push to become a global hub for media, entertainment, and digital innovation. With the tagline "Connecting Creators, Connecting Countries," this four-day summit has gathered top artists, content creators, innovators, policymakers, and investors from over 100 countries, signaling India's commitment to nurturing a worldwide ecosystem of talent and creativity.

In his inaugural address, PM Modi emphasized the importance of creative responsibility in an age of technological advancement, stating that while technology plays a pivotal role in modern lives, it is essential to preserve human sensitivity. He remarked that humans should not become robotic and stressed the need to protect the younger generation from harmful, anti-humanity content online.

WAVES 2025 is poised to propel India's media and entertainment sector, with a goal to grow the entertainment market to $50 billion by 2029. The summit also marks the debut of the Global Media Dialogue (GMD), a forum where ministerial-level representatives from 25 countries will discuss strategic partnerships within the media and entertainment industry. This collaboration will significantly enhance India's role in the global entertainment economy.

The WAVES Marketplace, launched as part of the summit, is another groundbreaking initiative that connects over 6,100 buyers, 5,200 sellers, and 2,100 projects. This platform facilitates large-scale networking and business opportunities for domestic and international stakeholders, reinforcing India's growing influence in the global market.

Reflecting Prime Minister Modi’s vision, WAVES 2025 also aims to foster collaboration across various sectors including films, OTT platforms, gaming, comics, digital media, AI, AVGC-XR (Animation, VFX, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality), and broadcasting. By showcasing India's creative achievements and offering opportunities for global exchange, the summit strengthens the country's position as an international leader in digital content and entertainment.

During the summit, PM Modi is expected to visit the "Creatosphere" zone, engaging with creators from the 'Create in India' initiative, which received an overwhelming 1 lakh registrations since its launch. The summit will feature more than 42 plenary sessions, 39 breakout sessions, and 32 masterclasses, covering crucial areas such as broadcasting, infotainment, and digital media innovation.

This historic event will be attended by over 10,000 delegates, including 1,000 creators and 300+ companies, making it a vital gathering for anyone involved in the media, entertainment, and digital technology industries. By establishing India as the center of the global creative economy, WAVES Summit 2025 promises to shape the future of content creation and innovation for years to come.
