PM Modi's Spiritual Visit to Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the grand Mahakumbh 2025 at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The Prime Minister began his visit by taking a holy dip at the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati rivers. Dressed in a bright saffron jacket and blue trackpants, PM Modi offered prayers at the Sangam, marking a significant moment in the ongoing spiritual and cultural event.

After arriving in Prayagraj, the Prime Minister embarked on a boat tour of the Yamuna River with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The Mahakumbh 2025, which began on January 13, 2025, on Paush Purnima, has attracted millions of devotees from all corners of the world and will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26, 2025. The event is considered the largest spiritual and cultural gathering globally.

Commitment to Infrastructure Development
As part of his efforts to preserve and promote India's rich spiritual and cultural heritage, PM Modi has been proactive in enhancing the infrastructure and facilities at pilgrimage sites. This includes the inauguration of 167 development projects worth ₹5,500 crore during his visit to Prayagraj on December 13, 2024. These initiatives aim to improve connectivity, amenities, and services for the public, making the pilgrimage experience smoother and more accessible.

Political Statement During Mahakumbh
During his visit, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam and urged against politicizing the Mahakumbh. Sharing a video on X, he stated that the Maha Kumbh, which comes once in 144 years, is a historic and religious event that should not be used for political purposes. He emphasized that the unprecedented number of people attending the Mahakumbh required adherence to safety guidelines.

Devotee Participation in Mahakumbh 2025
By 8 AM on Wednesday, over 3.748 million devotees had participated in the holy dip at Triveni Sangam, intensifying the spiritual atmosphere. This number includes more than 10 lakh Kalpvasis (devotees observing vows) and 2.748 million pilgrims who arrived early to seek divine blessings. The ongoing Mahakumbh continues to draw millions of people from all walks of life, making it a pivotal event in India's religious and spiritual calendar.
