In a fiery public rally at Karakat, Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a sharp dig at RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, highlighting the lawlessness and misgovernance that characterised Bihar during his tenure. Modi evoked the term “jungle raj”, condemning the era when land was allegedly snatched from the poor and the powerless were stripped of their rights, rendering life unbearable for many in the state.

Modi contrasted the past with the present, emphasising the NDA government’s focus on restoring law and order, infrastructure development, and socio-economic progress in Bihar. This pointed critique aligns with the BJP’s political narrative ahead of the 2025 Bihar assembly elections, where governance and security remain central issues.

Jungle Raj and Rights of the Poor

The Prime Minister recalled the difficult conditions under Lalu Prasad Yadav’s leadership, where rampant corruption and neglect led to a breakdown of law and order. Modi’s remarks on land grab and poor rights violations struck a chord with many voters still grappling with the legacy of that period.

Development in Naxal-Affected Areas

Modi shed light on the progress made in areas once severely affected by naxalism, mentioning that approximately 125 villages in Bihar that were previously unsafe and lacked basic facilities now witness roads, schools, and mobile towers. He credited the government’s efforts with ushering in a “new era of governance” characterised by infrastructure development and enhanced connectivity.

Among the milestones Modi highlighted were the upgraded Patna railway terminal, introduction of Vande Bharat trains in Bihar, and a remarkable fourfold increase in electricity consumption, symbolising better access and economic activity across the state.

Tribute to BSF Martyr Mohammed Imteyaz

In a solemn moment, Modi paid tribute to BSF Sub-Inspector Mohammed Imteyaz, a native of Bihar who laid down his life during Operation Sindoor. Modi acknowledged the sacrifices of thousands of Bihari soldiers serving in the armed forces and hailed the BSF personnel as the embodiment of strength and patriotism.

National Security and the Pahalgam Terror Attack

Turning to national security, Modi reaffirmed India’s firm stance against terrorism. Referring to the recent Pahalgam terror attack that killed innocent civilians, Modi declared that from Bihar soil he vowed to avenge the massacre — a promise he claimed to have fulfilled.

He detailed the swift and decisive punitive strikes on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan, stating that India’s military crippled Pakistan’s air force bases within minutes, bringing the Pakistani army “to its knees.” Modi emphasised that India’s fight against terrorism is ongoing and unwavering, underscoring the government’s commitment to protecting national security.

PM Modi’s remarks in Bihar were a mix of political attack and a showcase of development and security achievements, aimed at consolidating support for the NDA in the upcoming state elections while underlining a tough stance on terrorism and national unity.
