In addition to the rallies, there have been internal meetings among BJP leadership to fine-tune its election strategy. A brainstorming session took place on December 24, 2024, between the BJP and its ideological parent, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The meeting, held at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, focused on improving coordination between the two organizations for better electoral outcomes in Delhi. The session was reportedly overseen by Arun Kumar, who coordinates the BJP’s efforts with the RSS.
Election Timeline and Contestants
While the Election Commission of India has not yet officially declared the dates for the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, sources suggest that the elections will likely take place in February 2025. This will coincide with the expiration of the current assembly’s term on February 23, 2025.
The BJP has also hinted at unveiling its list of candidates soon. According to sources, the Central Election Committee of the BJP is expected to meet on December 31, 2024, with the list of contesting candidates to be released by the end of January 2025. This early decision-making could be pivotal in giving the party ample time to prepare for the elections.
AAP’s Push for a Third Term
On the other hand, AAP remains confident about its prospects in the upcoming election. Having secured a historic victory in 2020, where it won 63 of the 70 seats, the party is gearing up for another electoral challenge. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been actively campaigning for the third consecutive term, focusing on his government’s achievements and the party's commitment to addressing issues like education, healthcare, and free services for Delhi’s residents.
