Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake an official visit to the United Kingdom and Maldives between July 23 and July 26, aimed at strengthening strategic and economic cooperation with both nations. The UK leg will focus on trade, climate policy, and defence engagement, while the Maldives visit is expected to reinforce India’s regional presence amid China’s increasing influence in the Indian Ocean.
Meanwhile, in an all-party meeting held a day before the Monsoon Session of Parliament, the Union Government conveyed its willingness to discuss key matters raised by the Opposition, including the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, former US President Donald Trump's claims of mediating peace between India and Pakistan, and the Bihar Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive. However, the Centre reminded all parties that debates must follow Parliamentary decorum and rulebook protocols.
A new pre-election survey in Bihar has revealed that 58.1% of Scheduled Caste voters rank unemployment as the biggest poll issue. Furthermore, over 27% expressed no trust in the Election Commission, adding weight to opposition allegations of institutional bias. These findings could set the tone for contentious discussions in the coming Assembly polls and within Parliament.
