  • PM Modi’s address on National Space Day focused on India’s next step—deep space exploration and astronaut pool creation.

  • India plans to set up a dedicated pool of astronauts to prepare for future deep space and human spaceflight missions.

  • PM Modi encouraged youth to join India’s space journey and contribute to future space research and exploration.

India is steadily moving towards a new era of space exploration, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message on National Space Day has set the tone for the next big leap. In a video address, PM Modi called upon scientists, researchers, and youth to prepare for deep space exploration. This announcement signals that India is not just aiming for near-Earth missions but is also setting its eyes on exploring the wider universe.

PM Modi highlighted that India will soon establish a pool of astronauts, trained and ready to participate in upcoming space missions. This step will give India the ability to sustain human spaceflight programs, carry out long-term missions, and also ensure readiness for opportunities in deep space travel. The call comes at a time when ISRO has been registering global milestones with projects like Chandrayaan-3, Aditya-L1, and the preparations for the Gaganyaan mission.

The Prime Minister emphasized that India must now expand its horizons beyond Earth’s orbit. Deep space exploration includes missions aimed at distant planets, asteroids, and interplanetary studies. These missions require a new generation of astronauts who can undergo rigorous training, adapt to long-duration missions, and handle the challenges of outer space.

PM Modi also urged the youth of India to become active participants in this journey. He stressed that those who dream of becoming astronauts, scientists, or engineers must step forward to contribute to India’s space program. By creating a pool of astronauts, India will also be able to respond swiftly to mission requirements and collaborate with international partners in future space research projects.

Over the last decade, India has emerged as a reliable partner in space technology. Its low-cost but high-precision missions have attracted global attention, and now with deep space exploration in the pipeline, the expectations are even higher. The establishment of a dedicated astronaut pool will align India with other space powers like the USA, Russia, and China, all of which maintain active astronaut training programs for future missions.

India’s ambitious roadmap also includes building new space technologies, space stations, and interplanetary systems. With the Prime Minister’s call, scientists are expected to focus on innovation, international collaboration, and astronaut training infrastructure.

This message on National Space Day comes as a reminder that India’s vision for Viksit Bharat 2047 includes leadership in space research and exploration. The future of India in space will not just depend on ISRO alone but also on the participation of private companies, universities, research centres, and youth innovators.

By asking scientists to prepare for deep space exploration, PM Modi has set a national goal that combines technological advancement, scientific innovation, and national pride. As India builds its astronaut pool and looks towards Mars, asteroids, and beyond, the world is set to witness a new chapter in the country’s journey among the stars.
