The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Uday Kumar, General Manager of Power Grid Corporation of India, for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹2.5 lakh from an executive of KEC International. The arrest, which took place on March 20, 2025, is part of a larger probe into corruption within the power sector.

According to sources, Uday Kumar was stationed in Ajmer, Rajasthan, and was caught red-handed while receiving the bribe. The transaction involved Suman Singh, an executive of KEC International, who was also arrested. The two were meeting in Sikar, Rajasthan, when the CBI team apprehended them.

The bribery case has shaken the power sector, as it implicates major players. The CBI FIR names five individuals, including KEC International's Vice President and North India Head Jabraj Singh, as accused in the case.
