On December 5, 2024, Punjab Police resorted to lathi-charge against protesting farmers in Mansa district, resulting in significant injuries to both the police personnel and the farmers. At least three SHOs (Station House Officers) were injured during the clash, with the SHO of Bhikhi suffering broken hands. Several other police officers were also reported injured in the confrontation.

The farmers, who were protesting against the Gujarat gas pipeline project, were traveling from Talwandi Sabo town to Mansa via Sangrur.
