The emergency diversion occurred as the flight crew detected a technical issue during the journey, prompting an immediate precautionary landing. The aircraft touched down safely at around 2:30 pm, with all passengers and crew reported safe, according to a statement issued by Qatar Airways.

The airline’s official update confirmed: “Qatar Airways Flight QR816 from Doha to Hong Kong was diverted to Ahmedabad, made a precautionary emergency landing due to a technical issue. The aircraft landed safely at around 2:30 pm and all passengers are safe. Technical checks are currently being carried out to assess the condition of the aircraft.”

Passengers expressed relief at the smooth landing, with airport staff assisting them in disembarking safely. Ahmedabad Airport Terminal 2 is handling the ground operations, ensuring safety and comfort for passengers while the inspection is ongoing.

Regarding the continuation of the journey, the airline’s website mentioned that the flight is scheduled to depart for Hong Kong at 5:30 pm, contingent on successful completion of all safety inspections.
