In a high-profile poll rally in Badli, Delhi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi targeted Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of being no different from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Gandhi's speech took a sharp turn as he compared the two leaders, stating that just like PM Modi, Kejriwal also indulges in falsehoods. He even went as far as to say that Kejriwal might be "smarter" than Modi but remains equally deceitful.

The Congress leader also took a direct shot at Kejriwal's past promises, particularly his well-known vow to end corruption and even bathe in Yamuna. Gandhi reminded the crowd of Kejriwal’s claim to drink the Yamuna water as part of his promise to clean up the river. However, Gandhi then issued a bold challenge to the Delhi Chief Minister: he dared Kejriwal to drink Badli's water, which he implied was still tainted despite the claims of reform under his leadership.

In another party event addressing Dalit influencers in Delhi, Gandhi sharply criticized both PM Modi and Kejriwal, claiming that the latter is merely a more "sophisticated version" of the Prime Minister. This was part of a broader narrative where he accused BJP-RSS of attempting to undermine the Constitution, referencing the controversial statements made by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat about India's independence. Gandhi claimed that the BJP and RSS do not truly believe in the values enshrined in the Constitution of Dr. BR Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi, especially after Bhagwat's recent comments suggesting India did not gain independence in 1947.

The Congress leader also took responsibility for the party’s failure to protect the interests of Dalits and backward communities in the 1990s. Speaking on the issues of Dalit empowerment, Gandhi emphasized that representation alone is not enough. Instead, he argued that Dalits and backward communities must have equal participation ("bhaagidaari") in institutions and access to wealth. This, he believes, would be the true measure of their success and empowerment.

As the Delhi elections approach, Gandhi reiterated his belief that the Congress party would soon regain its “original base,” and that once this happened, the BJP and RSS would have to “run away.” His optimistic statements signal his confidence in Congress’s ability to reclaim political dominance in the region and push back against the growing influence of BJP and AAP in Delhi.
