A devastating road accident on Monday evening in Rajasthan’s Balotra region resulted in the deaths of five family members and left eight others seriously injured. The head-on collision took place near Payla village on the Mega Highway when a car carrying a family collided with an SUV traveling in the opposite direction.

Details of the Incident

The family was returning home after a visit to a doctor and had also purchased some household items when tragedy struck. The deceased have been identified as:

• Shivlal Soni (60)
• Shrawan Soni (28)
• Beauty Soni (25)
• Mandeep Soni (4)
• Rinku Soni (6 months)

The crash left four of the victims dead on the spot, and several others were seriously injured, requiring urgent medical attention.

Emergency Response and Treatment

Upon receiving reports of the collision, Balotra Superintendent of Police (SP) Hari Shankar rushed to the scene along with Sindhari police. Rescue operations were immediately initiated. The injured were initially admitted to Sindhari Community Health Center, where they received basic medical treatment. However, due to the critical condition of the injured, they were transferred to Jodhpur for advanced care. Tragically, one of the injured women succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment in Jodhpur.

Police Investigation

The crash involved a total of 13 people, and nine of them were injured. The Sindhari police have seized both the vehicles involved and have launched a detailed investigation into the cause of the collision. Early reports indicate it was a head-on crash, but police are examining factors such as speed, potential driver error, or other contributing causes.
