In a tragic incident early Friday, heavy rains in Delhi caused a portion of the roof at the Indira Gandhi International Airport's Terminal-1 to collapse, leading to the death of one person and injuring five others. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has promptly responded, advising airlines to accommodate affected passengers on alternate flights or provide full refunds in accordance with the regulations.

The collapse occurred around 5:30 am, following a deluge that waterlogged roads across the national capital. The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) received a distress call and immediately dispatched three fire-tenders to the airport. Among the injured, one person succumbed to their injuries at Medanta Hospital, located near the airport. The remaining injured individuals are receiving treatment, with one person having been rescued from a car crushed by a fallen iron beam.
