Tragically, Rubby Pérez, who was performing at the time, was also confirmed dead after initial reports suggested he had been rescued.

Rescue teams worked tirelessly to locate survivors amidst the rubble. Approximately 12 hours after the collapse, responders reported hearing signs of life and focused their efforts on those areas. The operation involved over 22 state agencies, utilizing heavy machinery and search dogs to aid in the efforts. President Luis Abinader and First Lady Raquel Arbaje visited the site, expressing their condolences and ensuring that all government resources were being utilized for the rescue mission. ​

The Jet Set nightclub, established in 1973, has been a staple in Santo Domingo's nightlife, known for its "Jet Set Mondays" featuring both local and international artists. The venue underwent renovations in 2010 and 2015. Notably, in 2023, the club's power plant area was struck by lightning, causing a fire that was swiftly extinguished without injuries. ​

Investigation and Aftermath:

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the roof collapse. Initial reports indicate that the building, originally constructed as a cinema, may have had structural vulnerabilities. Questions have arisen regarding the frequency and thoroughness of building inspections, especially given the venue's history and the prior lightning incident. The club's owner, Antonio Espaillat, who was abroad at the time, returned promptly and pledged full cooperation with the authorities. ​
