Sedna HoReCa, a newly launched business-to-business (B2B) platform aimed at serving India’s fragmented hotel, restaurant, and catering (HoReCa) industry, has successfully raised Rs 50 crore in equity funding from Anicut Capital. This investment is a significant boost for the startup, which aims to establish India’s first comprehensive, technology-driven B2B solution tailored to the complex needs of the hospitality industry.
The startup is founded by Mahadevan Narayanamoni and Saurabh Pandey, the minds behind Aknamed, a tech-led hospital supply chain firm acquired by PharmEasy in 2021. Their deep domain knowledge and startup experience position them well to address the operational inefficiencies plaguing the HoReCa segment.
Three Strong Pillars of Sedna’s Vision
Sedna HoReCa’s business model is structured around three primary verticals—B2B SaaS, commerce and distribution, and food solutions—each addressing core industry challenges.
1. B2B SaaS: Driving Efficiency Through Automation
In the SaaS vertical, Sedna leverages the strength of SupplyNote, a leading inventory management software, and BillNote, a POS (point-of-sale) solution developed by AdCount Technologies. These tools are designed specifically for restaurants and cafés to optimize inventory tracking, reduce waste, and improve billing efficiency.
The AdCount founding team—Kushang, Abhishek Kumar, Harshit Mittal, and Nitin Prakash—has officially joined Sedna’s leadership. Their inclusion not only brings in seasoned tech talent but also strengthens the company’s capacity to build an integrated commerce and technology platform.
2. Commerce and Distribution: Redefining the Supply Chain
The commerce and logistics division is structured through two major offerings:
-
Vyap, a supply distribution platform, and
-
SupplyLink, a 3PL and 4PL logistics solution tailored for HoReCa enterprises.
These tools help streamline procurement and logistics by solving problems like erratic supply chains, inventory shrinkage, high procurement costs, and delayed deliveries.
By building a more predictable and cost-efficient supply chain, Sedna empowers HoReCa businesses to focus more on customer experience rather than backend operational stress.
3. Products and Food Solutions: Entering the F&B Supply Arena
Another major stride is Sedna’s entry into the food products segment, where it will offer ready-to-cook (RTC) and ready-to-serve (RTS) meals. These offerings are aimed at:
-
Restaurants and cafés
-
Food courts
-
Direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands
-
Commercial kitchens
This vertical is led by Chef Sanjaya Bhan, founder of Hospitality Unlimited, who brings immense culinary expertise to the team. Sedna is setting up a new food production facility in Bengaluru, while also scaling HU’s existing unit, to meet the growing demand for convenient and high-quality food solutions.
Backed by Industry Insight and Funding Confidence
Speaking about the fundraising, Saurabh Pandey, Co-founder of Sedna, stated:
“With increasing technology adoption, the emergence of national retail players and new food brands, this is the right time to build an integrated, technology-enabled B2B solutions business for the HoReCa industry.”
Dhruv Kapoor, Partner at Anicut Capital, added:
“Sedna helps solve specific challenges that the HoReCa industry has been facing: escalating purchase costs, erratic fill rates, long lead times, and inventory loss due to pilferage.”
This investor confidence underlines the scalability and relevance of Sedna’s model, particularly in a growing market that has been historically underserved by structured B2B platforms.
City-Wide Expansion Plan and Future Outlook
Using the fresh capital, Sedna plans to expand to over 20 Indian cities in the next 12 months. This aggressive expansion strategy aligns with the company's goal to become the go-to B2B platform for the hospitality ecosystem.
With increasing interest from food brands, D2C startups, cloud kitchens, and large restaurant chains, Sedna is well-positioned to digitally unify the entire procurement-to-service chain for HoReCa businesses.
Their integrated approach—combining software automation, robust supply chains, and food manufacturing capabilities—is poised to redefine B2B commerce in hospitality.
A Promising Future for Sedna HoReCa
With a strong leadership team, investor backing, and a clearly defined multi-vertical strategy, Sedna HoReCa is on a promising path. Its ability to merge technology, operations, and food into a single ecosystem gives it a strong competitive edge.
As India’s hospitality sector continues to digitize, the demand for such unified platforms will only grow, making Sedna a key player to watch in the B2B HoReCa tech landscape.
Key Takeaway: Sedna HoReCa is more than just a startup—it’s a comprehensive ecosystem built to bring structure, transparency, and growth to India’s dynamic hospitality sector.
