Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Aalok Shanghvi as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the company, effective immediately. Mr. Shanghvi, a Whole-time Director and Executive Vice-President at Sun Pharma, has made significant contributions across several key business functions during his tenure.

Having joined Sun Pharma in 2006, Mr. Shanghvi has excelled in various leadership roles. He has overseen diverse areas such as marketing, R&D, project management, purchasing, and communications, establishing himself as a key figure in the company’s operational success.

Aalok Shanghvi’s Journey at Sun Pharma

Mr. Shanghvi became the Head of the Emerging Markets business in 2014, which spans across 80 countries, including regions such as Africa, the Middle East, APAC, Eastern Europe, CIS, and Latam. The Emerging Markets business now contributes approximately 18% to Sun Pharma's global revenues. Under his leadership, the company has grown its presence in these key regions.

In addition to this role, Mr. Shanghvi took on the responsibility of overseeing Global Generic R&D, Global Business Development (Generics), Operations, and API functions. These responsibilities have allowed him to expand his strategic vision and drive significant growth across multiple areas within the company.

Since June 2023, Mr. Shanghvi has served as a Whole-time Director at Sun Pharma, further cementing his leadership role within the organization.

Mr. Shanghvi holds a degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor.
