To mark the celebration of India’s 79th Independence Day, the makers of the much-awaited war drama Border 2 unveiled the film’s first motion poster, sending a wave of excitement among film enthusiasts and patriotic cinema lovers. The powerful visual, shared by T-Series on social media, features Sunny Deol in an intense and fierce avatar, gripping a long gun and eyeing the enemy lines with unwavering resolve. The caption boldly declared, “Hindustan ke liye ladenge… phir ek baar!”, reaffirming the iconic patriotic tone of the Border franchise.
Directed by Anurag Singh, the second instalment of the popular film series brings together a stellar ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Suniel Shetty, Ahan Shetty, Diljit Dosanjh, Sonam Bajwa, and Mouni Roy. Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar under the banners of T-Series Films and JP Films, the film promises a large-scale cinematic experience, combining emotional storytelling with high-voltage action.
Alongside the motion poster, the makers also announced the new theatrical release date for the film — January 22, 2026 — moving it a day ahead of its previously planned release of January 23. The change aims to capitalise on the Republic Day long weekend, which traditionally draws large crowds to theatres and boosts box office performance for patriotic films.
The original 1997 film ‘Border’, inspired by the Battle of Longewala (1971), remains one of Bollywood’s most iconic war dramas. Made on a modest budget of ₹10 crore, the first part of the franchise went on to collect ₹64.98 crore worldwide, becoming a cult classic and winning acclaim for its heartfelt depiction of Indian Army bravery.
With Border 2 carrying forward the legacy of the franchise and reuniting Sunny Deol with patriotic cinema, the film is already among the most anticipated releases of 2026. The motion poster has intensified the buzz, and fans are eagerly waiting to witness the story unfold on the big screen as the nation gears up to celebrate Republic Day 2026.
