However, the month marked a major milestone in electric vehicle (EV) adoption, as the company recorded its highest-ever monthly EV sales.
In a statement issued to stock exchanges pursuant to Regulation 30 of the SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015, Tata Motors shared its domestic and international market performance, highlighting a strong showing in commercial vehicle exports and a notable dip in overall passenger vehicle demand.
Domestic performance sees mixed trends
Tata Motors’ domestic sales stood at 65,953 units in July 2025, lower than the 70,161 units sold in the same month last year, reflecting a 6% YoY decline.

Passenger Vehicles see dip but EVs surge

-
International PV Sales (PV IB): 654 units vs. 229 units (+186% YoY)
The silver lining came from Electric Vehicle sales, which jumped 42% YoY to 7,124 units, compared to 5,027 units in July 2024, marking the highest-ever monthly EV sales for the company.
The PV data includes contributions from Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, subsidiaries of Tata Motors Limited.
Market reaction and strategic outlook
Industry experts say the mixed July performance reflects uneven consumer sentiment and inventory adjustments ahead of festive season demand. While passenger vehicle volumes dipped, possibly due to muted rural demand and elevated interest rates, the robust commercial and EV performance offers confidence in the company's strategy.
The strong EV growth underscores Tata Motors' position as a leader in India’s electric mobility transition. With rising awareness, increased model availability, and charging infrastructure expansion, EV adoption is expected to remain on a strong upward trajectory.
The commercial vehicle momentum, especially in exports and mid-segment trucks, indicates healthy infrastructure and freight demand across both domestic and international markets.
