TCS and Salling Group Forge Strategic IT Partnership for Digital and AI-Driven Retail Transformation
Tata Consultancy Services has entered into a long-term partnership with Denmark’s largest retailer, Salling Group, to drive AI-enabled cloud migration, retail innovation, and sustainable growth. This major collaboration will cover 2,100 stores and 68,000 employees across Denmark, Germany, Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia.
Salling Group owns multiple brands including føtex, Bilka, Netto, RIMI Baltic, and also operates Carl’s Jr. and Starbucks under franchise. The retailer’s Aspire 28 strategy aims at expanding store count, acquisitions, and digital capability across new markets — a vision which TCS will enable through cutting-edge cloud solutions and intelligent automation.
AI-Driven Cloud Migration and Operational Excellence
As part of this collaboration, TCS will deploy Cloud Exponence, its AI-powered cloud operations platform, to help Salling Group achieve:
-
Greater operational agility
-
Full-stack infrastructure management
-
Machine-human collaboration for faster service delivery
-
Built-in security and compliance
The solution is based on a Machine First approach, reducing manual tasks while ensuring smooth, smart cloud operations even in hybrid setups.
Customer-Centric Transformation
According to Alan Jensen, CIO of Salling Group, this digital transformation will help the group respond better to customer needs while promoting sustainability. Jensen confirmed that this collaboration supports the group’s ambitious Aspire 28 vision.
TCS will enhance Salling Group’s e-commerce platforms and ensure they remain responsive to evolving consumer behaviour. The AI-driven transformation will empower the group to deliver more personalised and unified shopping experiences.
Strategic Significance for TCS
TCS Country Head for Denmark, Vikram Sharma, expressed pride in partnering with one of Denmark’s most respected companies. He noted that TCS’ experience in global retail transformation would help Salling Group remain resilient and innovative.
Abhijit Niyogi, Vice President and Business Unit Head for Retail – UK, EMEA, and India, added that this collaboration strengthens TCS’ commitment to sustainable and scalable business transformation in Europe.

TCS brings to the table its advanced AI-powered retail platforms, including:
-
TCS OmniStore – a composable commerce platform that enables unified retail
-
TCS Optumera – a strategic intelligence platform that helps optimise merchandising across the value chain
These tools will empower Salling Group to modernise operations and expand with confidence.
