Chinese smartphone brand Tecno has taken the next big leap in foldable phone innovation by unveiling its Phantom Ultimate G Fold Concept, a tri-fold smartphone that expands to a massive 9.94-inch display. The futuristic foldable will be officially showcased at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026, as the company aims to establish itself as a pioneer in next-generation foldable devices.

The new concept follows Tecno’s 2024 launch of the Phantom Ultimate 2, a similar tri-fold prototype that generated significant buzz at MWC 2025. With the G Fold Concept, the company promises even more refined engineering, practical design upgrades, and flagship-grade specifications.

Innovative G-Style Tri-Fold Design

Tecno's Phantom Ultimate G Fold Concept features a G-Style tri-fold architecture, combining both inward and outward folding layers to provide maximum display area while ensuring screen protection.

“Phantom Ultimate G Fold Concept showcases an innovative G-Style design. Its expansive inner display folds inward twice, completely shielding the main screen from scratches and impacts when not in use,” Tecno said in a press statement.

The smartphone employs a custom-engineered dual-hinge mechanism:

• A smaller waterdrop hinge enables the right section of the screen to fold inward in a book-like motion.

• A larger primary hinge folds the remaining left section over the top, completing the G-shaped folding pattern.
