On Tuesday night, tragedy struck in the Kandhamal district of Odisha as a speeding bus lost control at a sharp turn, resulting in a devastating accident. The bus, carrying approximately 50 passengers from Muniguda in Rayagada district to Phulbani in Kandhamal district, overturned near Phiringia. The accident occurred due to the bus's high speed, causing the driver to lose control while navigating the sharp turn.

The aftermath of the accident was harrowing, with two individuals losing their lives and several others sustaining injuries. Among the deceased were identified as ticket conductor Bijaya Patnaik and a 17-year-old boy named Arjun Kanhar. The injured were promptly attended to by locals and the police administration, who rushed to the scene to provide assistance. They were swiftly transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

SDM Phulbani, Chittaranjan Mahanta, who arrived at the hospital, confirmed the tragic outcome of the accident. "Two people died and nine others were injured and admitted to the hospital. There were around 50 passengers on the bus. The bus overturned at a turning in Phiringia as the driver lost control because of overspeeding," he stated.

This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of overspeeding and reckless driving, especially on winding roads. It underscores the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and exercising caution while behind the wheel to prevent such tragic accidents from occurring.
