Tripura is grappling with severe flooding that has significantly affected the state, with over 1.7 million people impacted and at least 20 confirmed deaths. The flooding has caused extensive damage, displacing thousands and creating an urgent need for relief and rescue operations.
In response to the crisis, the central government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a substantial relief package of ₹40 crore from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). This allocation is aimed at providing immediate assistance to those affected and supporting the ongoing relief efforts.
Chief Minister Manik Saha has been at the forefront of managing the flood response, coordinating with various agencies and assessing the extent of the damage. His leadership has been crucial in ensuring that the state's needs are addressed promptly.
To aid in the relief operations, 11 teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed, alongside three army columns and four Air Force helicopters. These teams are engaged in various rescue and relief activities, including evacuating stranded individuals, providing medical assistance, and distributing essential supplies.
Local leaders and organizations, such as the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), are also playing a vital role in the distribution of aid and ensuring that support reaches the most affected communities. Their involvement is crucial in managing the logistics of the relief efforts and addressing local needs effectively.
