US President Donald Trump made candid remarks about the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, describing it as an absolute bloodbath and highlighting the staggering human cost. Speaking to the media on May 20, 2025, Trump revealed that an estimated 5,000 young soldiers are being killed every single week on average in the conflict, with the real number possibly even higher. Alongside soldiers, countless civilians in towns caught in the crossfire are also losing their lives.

Trump emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating he had seen satellite images depicting the destruction and human toll as "so bad, so horrible." His comments underscored the urgent need to stop the violence and seek peace.

In recent days, Trump had engaged in separate phone conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He conveyed cautious optimism, saying that some progress is being made toward a ceasefire.
