After securing a historic election victory in 2024, Donald Trump has remained conspicuously silent on social media platforms, a move that has puzzled some observers. Despite being known for his constant presence on platforms like Truth Social (operated by his own media company Trump Media), X (owned by his campaign backer Elon Musk), and others, the president-elect has not posted any messages since the polls closed on Election Day, Tuesday.

As of Thursday afternoon, Trump's official accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok also remain inactive, with his last posts urging Republican voters to stay at their polling stations. His absence on these platforms has sparked speculation about whether this is a deliberate messaging strategy or simply a break after a high-stress campaign where Trump frequently posted updates.

When asked about the lack of social media activity, a Trump campaign spokesman, Steven Cheung, simply responded, “President Trump won a historic election and will now become the 47th President of the United States.” The statement did not clarify whether Trump's silence on social media is intentional or temporary.

Engaging in International Diplomacy

While Trump may be staying silent online, he has certainly been active in international diplomacy since his victory. World leaders have been quick to congratulate him, with notable figures such as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer offering their well wishes.

Trump has also received calls from both his defeated opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, and the current President, Joe Biden, both congratulating him on his victory. According to NBC News, Trump spent most of Wednesday responding to calls from world leaders while at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. He has spoken to nearly 70 global leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, marking the beginning of his new role on the world stage.

Trump has yet to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but he expects to do so soon. His diplomatic activity signifies a shift from his usual online presence to a more traditional form of leadership as he prepares to transition into his new role.

Transition and Leadership Preparation

In addition to his international calls, Trump is also making preparations for the upcoming phase of his presidency. NBC reported that Trump was scheduled for his first meeting with his presidential transition team on Thursday. This meeting marks a key moment as Trump begins the critical work of assembling his administration ahead of taking office as the 47th President of the United States.

Though his absence from social media has raised questions, it seems Trump is focusing on his duties as the incoming president, handling international relations, and beginning the formal transition process. His silence could be a brief pause as he shifts gears to the responsibilities awaiting him in the coming months.
