In a significant security operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district, Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF apprehended two suspects with arms, ammunition, and other war-like stores. Acting on specific intelligence input, the security forces launched a joint search operation in the Gandbal-Hajin Road area on March 12, 2025.
Arms and Ammunition Recovered
According to the Indian Army, the following items were seized during the operation:
- 01 Pistol
- 01 Pistol Magazine
- 02 Hand Grenades
- 01 AK Magazine
- Ammunition and other war-like stores
In an official statement on social media platform X, Chinar Corps confirmed the operation, stating that the two individuals were taken into custody, and the police are conducting further investigations. The arrest is a major breakthrough in ensuring regional security, as these weapons and explosives pose a serious threat to public safety and law enforcement personnel.
Cross-Border Firing in Rajouri Injures Army Jawan
In a separate incident, an Indian Army soldier was injured in a cross-border firing incident along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Rajouri district on March 12, 2025. According to sources, the soldier was posted at a forward position in the Kalsiyan area of the Nowshera sector when a suspected sniper attack from across the border targeted him.
The injured soldier was immediately provided first aid before being evacuated to a military hospital in Udhampur for further medical treatment.
Officials reported that an explosion occurred near the zero line at around 6 am, followed by three rounds of gunfire. However, no immediate casualties were reported from the blast, and the cause of the explosion remains under investigation. The Indian Army is closely monitoring the situation and maintaining heightened vigilance along the LoC.
Security Measures and Ongoing Investigation
The joint operation in Bandipora comes at a time when security forces are intensifying counter-terror operations to ensure peace in the region. The arrest of the two suspects and the seizure of arms and explosives highlight the persistent security challenges in J&K.
Meanwhile, the cross-border firing incident in Rajouri underscores the ongoing threats along the LoC, necessitating continuous monitoring and swift response from Indian forces.
