As Holi 2025 approaches, the Uttar Pradesh Police has issued strict guidelines to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration across the state. Officials have explicitly stated that no new traditions will be permitted during the festival, emphasizing that Holi should be celebrated in its traditional form.

The official order, released on March 12, 2025, calls for identifying anti-social elements in advance and taking preventive action against potential troublemakers. Past Holi-related disputes have been reviewed to ensure that effective security measures are implemented accordingly.

Security Arrangements for Holi 2025

The Uttar Pradesh administration has significantly tightened security, deploying police personnel, magistrates, and specialized forces in key areas. Sambhal District Magistrate Rajendra Pensia outlined the extensive arrangements, stating:

  • 16 processions and fairs will take place across the district.
  • 27 quick response teams have been formed to handle emergencies.
  • Six zones and 29 sectors have been created, each under the supervision of magistrates and police officers.
  • PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) battalions deployed for three-tier security as per previous years.
  • 250 CCTV cameras have been installed, with an additional 100-150 cameras added temporarily for the festival.
  • Drone surveillance has been conducted once and will be carried out again.
  • Flag marches were conducted under the supervision of the DIG to instill confidence among the public.

Holi and Ramzan: Balancing Religious Sensitivities

This year, Holi falls on March 14, coinciding with Friday prayers during Ramzan. To prevent potential conflicts, authorities held peace committee meetings across various districts.

Sambhal Circle Officer (CO Anuj Kumar Chaudhary) made a public appeal, advising those uncomfortable with colours to stay indoors during Holi. He pointed out that Holi is an annual festival, while Friday prayers occur 52 times a year, emphasizing the need for mutual respect and coexistence.

Recent Developments and Precautionary Measures

Ahead of Holi, special meetings were conducted in police stations, including Sambhal Kotwali, to address security concerns. Authorities also closely monitored the Rangbhari Ekadashi celebrations, which marked the beginning of Holi festivities in the region.

With previous communal incidents in mind, the UP Police has taken a firm stand to prevent any escalation of tensions. Swift legal action will be taken against anyone attempting to disturb peace or violate the set guidelines.

Final Note

The UP Police's proactive approach aims to ensure that Holi 2025 is celebrated peacefully, without incidents of violence or mischief. The administration's clear message is that law and order will be upheld, and any violations will lead to strict consequences. Residents have been urged to celebrate responsibly, respecting both tradition and social harmony.
