US National Intelligence Director, Tulsi Gabbard, is set to visit India as part of her multi-nation tour across the Indo-Pacific region. The tour includes stops in Japan, Thailand, and India, with a brief stop in France on the way back to Washington, D.C.

Gabbard, who grew up in the Pacific and has strong ties to the region, expressed the importance of fostering strong relationships and open lines of communication to achieve President Donald Trump's goals of peace, freedom, and prosperity. In a post shared on X, she outlined her planned visit to these countries, which includes meeting with US allies and military personnel stationed in the region.

The visit marks a historic milestone as it will be the first visit by a top White House official to India under the Trump administration. Notably, this trip comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the United States in February 2025, where he met with Tulsi Gabbard. During their meeting, Modi praised Gabbard as a "strong advocate" of the India-US partnership, underscoring the growing ties between the two nations.

Strengthening India-US Relations

Gabbard’s visit comes on the heels of PM Modi’s visit to the United States, which was the first trip to the US by an Indian Prime Minister after President Trump assumed office for his second term. The two leaders met at the White House, where they shared a warm hug, symbolizing the strengthening bond between the two countries.

During his visit to the US, PM Modi and President Trump had discussed multiple avenues for improving bilateral ties, with a focus on defense, trade, and technology. Gabbard’s visit will likely continue those conversations, with a special focus on intelligence-sharing and security within the Indo-Pacific.

Her upcoming trip is seen as a strategic move to bolster US-India relations and continue the momentum from PM Modi’s visit. Gabbard's diplomatic efforts are expected to further enhance cooperation on key global issues, including regional security, trade, and defense collaboration.
