The Vande Bharat Sleeper train prototype has officially been manufactured and is scheduled for field trials soon. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed this development in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, stating that the train's rollout is contingent on the successful completion of these trials. As of December 2, 136 Vande Bharat trains are already operational on various medium-distance routes across the Indian Railways network. Among the Vande Bharat services, 16 trains are actively serving Tamil Nadu, providing connectivity to important stations in the state. The longest distance Vande Bharat service currently operates between Delhi and Banaras, covering an impressive 771 kilometers. These services are just the beginning of a broader expansion plan for Vande Bharat trains across India, which is continuously evolving to meet traffic needs and operational feasibility.

• Faster average speeds, with enhanced acceleration and deceleration capabilities.
• An Emergency talk-back unit for communication between passengers and train staff in case of emergencies.
• Accessibility features, including accommodation and toilets for passengers with restricted mobility (PRM), located in the driving coaches.
• Centralized monitoring systems for better control over amenities like air conditioning and lighting.
• CCTV surveillance in all coaches for enhanced passenger security.

The introduction of these sleeper trains is part of the ongoing effort by Indian Railways to improve its services, especially in the face of growing demand for high-speed and safe travel options.
