Three individuals were injured in a clash over access to water from a common tap. The altercation, which highlights the severity of the situation, necessitated police intervention. According to a senior police officer, two Police Control Room (PCR) calls were received about the fight, prompting an immediate response. The injured parties were quickly transported to Indira Gandhi Hospital for treatment. The police have registered cross FIRs based on statements from both parties involved in the dispute.

Political Blame Game

The political landscape in Delhi has been charged with tension as the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and opposition parties, primarily the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress, engage in a blame game, further complicating the crisis without yielding any constructive solutions.

On Sunday, a delegation of AAP MLAs submitted a letter to Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil, urgently requesting intervention to ensure that Haryana resumes water supply to Delhi. AAP MLA Dilip Pandey emphasized the critical nature of the crisis, stating that the worsening water shortage in the face of extreme heat poses a significant threat to life in the city. Pandey mentioned that all AAP MLAs had made efforts to reach out to Minister Paatil through various means, including emails and messages, but had not received a response as the minister was not present at his residence.

BJP's 'Matka Phod' Protest

In a show of dissent, the Delhi BJP organized 'matka phod' protests at 14 locations across the city on Sunday. Led by Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva, party members and supporters gathered to smash clay pots in symbolic protest against the AAP government's handling of the water crisis. Sachdeva accused the AAP of mismanagement and negligence, asserting that the water shortage is not due to natural causes but rather due to the government's inefficiency.
